Trivia / Cartoon Cartoon Fridays

  • Executive Meddling: As arguably an early sign of Cartoon Network's Network Decay, the host-era of CCF found itself on the receiving end of this trope during the Kellner/Samples era. CCF had been a cornerstone of the Network's success but during 2002 as CN lost a lot of its household numbers and Kellner pushed for more demographic results, revamping CCF was one of Samples' major projects for 2003. The first results of this included showing non-Cartoon Cartoons like Samurai Jack (which was generally viewed as more justified as the show was produced by Cartoon Network) and What's New, Scooby-Doo? (Which mostly consisted of reruns, as the show had already premiered on Kids' WB!. This was primarily Kellner's idea for synergy to have CN spotlight Kids' WB! shows on their premiere block). In 2003 itself the block was revamped the block into Summer Fridays, followed by Cartoon Network's Fridays, and lastly, the block simply known as Fridays having abandoned some of the hallmarks that the previous eras had relied on.
  • The Producer Thinks of Everything: Like the Cartoon Cartoon intro, the Cartoon Cartoon Fridays theme is written and played in F Major. This is also carried over to the Toonami song, Puff&Bass, representing the only Cartoon Cartoon on that block.
  • Follow the Leader: Nickelodeon attempted to clone this block with Friday Night Nicktoons, which aired from 2002-2004. While it was successful, it was nowhere near as popular as CCF.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Being a block that showcased new episodes of the network's older original series (and others), it's unlikely that they'll ever air on TV again. Shockingly, Fridays did manage to get a DVD release with some host segments and even a few cartoons in 2006, but that's it for the official releases. Many of the remaining host segments and bumpers can be found on YouTube.
