Trivia / Boyz II Men

Go To

  • Black Sheep Hit: Boyz II Men are known for their romantic ballads and soulful harmonies. Their first hit "Motownphilly" though was more of an up-tempo New Jack Swing dance number.
  • Breakaway Pop Hit: In one of the most prominent examples of this trope, Boyz II Men performed "End of the Road" for the Eddie Murphy romantic comedy Boomerang (1992). While Boomerang made back its budget, it is not particularly remembered or acclaimed, while "End of the Road" is the highest selling Motown single of all time.
  • The Pete Best: Marc Nelson was an original member of the group but left before they released their first album. Partially subverted, as he currently serves as a backup singer on the group's live shows, but otherwise isn't considered an actual group member.
  • Referenced by...: The Stand of Ken Oyanagi from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable is given a name that references Boyz II Men, being the Coming of Age Story-sounding "Boy II Man".
  • What Could Have Been: For their 20th anniversary album, the group announced that it would feature all 4 original members, but Michael McCary quickly declined to participate after the announcement.
