  • Breakthrough Hit: "Daddy Cool" in 1976, which hit #1 in a bunch of European countries, made the Top 10 in the UK and also marked their first American chart entry (getting to #65).
  • Follow the Leader:
    • The early Boney M records were very much in the style of Silver Convention (of "Fly, Robin, Fly" fame), another disco group based in Munich and sharing some of the same session musicians.
    • Dschinghis Khan unashamedly followed Boney M's lead with disco records based on historical figures.
    • "El Lute" was obviously inspired by ABBA's "Fernando".
