Trivia / Adventures in Music Duology

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Bill Thompson does double duty in both shorts as the voices of both Professor Owl and Bertie Birdbrain respectively.
  • Bad Export for You: The international releases of the original 2000 DVD release of Fantasia 2000 outside America and Canada only contained "Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom" with "Melody" not being present on them.
  • Creator Backlash: Despite the acclaim both shorts got, Walt Disney was not too found of their UPA-esque stylized animation and eventually demoted Ward Kimball back to animator until the mid-60's.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Unlike the rest of Classic Disney Shorts, neither one got the same amount of home media releases like them, and all home media releases containing both shorts are out-of-print with both having last being seen on the Walt Disney Treasures Collection set Rarities and the Virtual Vault section on the 2010 Blu-Ray release of Fantasia 2000 respectively. Also, both are not available on Disney+.
  • No Export for You: Due to the Walt Disney Treasures Collection set Rarities only being released in America and Japan, "Melody" never had an official DVD release outside America and Japan unlike with "Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom".
  • Uncredited Role: None of the cast are credited in both shorts.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Some of the early storyboards had the teacher character as a blackbird rather than an owl. It was changed possibly to avoid the stereotype of the jive-talking rhyming Black bird.
    • The original ending had the growing willow tree finally transform into the Hollywood Bowl with an orchestra performing as the Professor and his students watched from a nearby tree.
    • "Toot Whistle" was not initially envisioned as an entry in the "Adventures in Music" shorts, and was going to be titled "Meet the Instruments", with Sterling Holloway being courted as the narrator.
