Episode 9: Planet Of Music
  • The entire plot surrounding the Cicada Men quartet makes it very clear that they've grown to love music, and Earth by extension, so much that they're heartbroken when forced to resume their original mission of pillaging the planet.
  • Anri being forced to shoot their leader Hoichi in the hand combines sadness with worries for musicians. Sure, he wanted to be defeated, but said defeat resulted in the injury of his right hand, preventing him from playing the violin he cherished for so long. Even if said defeat allows himself and the other Cicada Men to permanently abandon their mission and live on Earth, it's heartbreaking to see a talented musician being forcefully separated from his passion.

Episode 18: The Towering Terror

  • Showcasing how much Gento's workload and secrecy alienate his family, his wife asks him to spend more time with their son and that he also needs to wear the bracelet Jun made for him since he is clearly upset about it. Sadly the day Gento could have come home earlier instead has him held up again due to Irugo with Satoko quickly hiding the fact her husband was forced to break his promise. Thankfully the TV crew ends up showing live footage of Gento saving them from debris thus allowing them to know he truly had something he needed to do.

Episode 22: Insurance Hero

  • Tetsuo's situation is pretty depressing. He's stuck in what was meant to be a dream job for him at Japan Kaiju Damage Insurance Company, but due to the poor performance he's been having in selling kaiju insurance policies, he lives in a pretty small drab apartment where he has to subsist on fast food and store-bought meals since he has only enough money for that. Even worse is his boss being harsh towards him for every failure to get more clients; and a co-worker, Ryuji, won't stop making fun of him.
  • When Tetsuo helps the old woman Michiko fix a meal while offering her his policies, she rewards him with said meal and the two share it. Tetsuo is overjoyed to eat warm homemade food for the first time in months.
  • Michiko, the old woman who Tetsuo befriends, is shown at first to apparently be happy living on her own despite having lost her husband years ago. But then when Red King and Guigass reach the city and begin rampaging she refuses to evacuate; and to a distressed visiting Tetsuo's horror, she intends to get killed during the rampage so she can be with her husband again. It takes a while for him to convince the friend he's just made and has helped him through hard times to not give up on life just yet; even after he convinces her to let him rescue her, Michiko still almost gives up on life again when Tetsuo appears to be slowed down by her until he rescues her.
  • Even after Red King and Guigass are defeated, Michiko still feels grief at losing her home and whatever was left of her husband's memory, luckily for her it's here when Tetsuo reminds her that he can and will rebuild her home with his insurance policy he offered her.

Episode 23: Visitor 99

  • The fact that the various Taganular were not only trying to stop the hordes of V99 kaiju but wouldn't have caused much destruction if they had been left alone makes the death of the original and all others pretty hard to see as celebratory victories anymore, especially since the two that were able to survive when Gento realized their true goal and absorbed enough energy to try and complete their objective still perished due to Valaron reflecting their own beams back at them rendering their efforts pointless; and all this meaning that GGF, SKaRD and Blazar unwittingly annihilated creatures trying to protect their home from invaders and made everything worse as a result.

Miscellaneous

  • Yu Dobashi would be Minori Terada's final tokusatsu role, as Terada would pass away on March 14, 2024, two months after the show finished its run.
