Tear Jerker / Bloodbound

• Book 1, Chapter 14 has Adrian recapping the story of how his wife and son were killed, capped off with the line "My baby boy died in my arms..." Poor Adrian.
• Amy's death as a human at the end of Book 2. The tears can catch you so off guard too, especially if you know she has to die to become a vampire. It's a contrast after all the times she'd survived alongside the vampires as a human, just being her scrappy, brave self, so to have a moment come where she DOESN'T survive... where she gets a sword piercing her lungs...
  • Not to mention her love interest holds here in her (seemingly) last moments and tries to tell her that they love her, before the screen fades to black.
  • Even worse, the sword that ended her human life was none other than Jax's, which affected him so much that he wanted to get rid of it until Amy convinced him otherwise.
• The portrait fragment in Book 3, Chapter 5 shows the aftermath of Amy's supposed death. Adrian, Kamilah, Lily, and Jax are all shown to be devastated, even blaming themselves for not being able to do anything, and her love interest takes her death the hardest.
• The penultimate chapter, holy hell. The main characters have obtained a dagger coated with sap from the Tree of Death that will turn Rheya into a Feral, thereby destroying her psychic hold on the thousands of innocents whose life she plans to drain away. During the confrontation, Rheya disarms Amy, takes the dagger from her and hurls it at her...at which point either Lily or Jax (depending on your choices throughout the book) throws themselves in front of Amy, and the knife hits them instead. At this point, Lily or Jax are already done for; the sap will turn them Feral in less than a minute, meaning that the only option is to stake them through the heart. Before that, they spend their final moments thanking Amy for everything and tearfully bids her goodbye before either Kamilah stakes Lily or Jax stakes himself (not wanting to be Feral for even a second) and they turn to ash.
• In the finale, Rheya discovering that she unknowingly killed her own daughter makes her so distraught that she begs Amy to end her.
