- Alessia Cara's song "Wild Things" has the refrain "Take me where the wild things are."
- Music/Metallica recorded a song titled Where The Wild Things Are on their Reload album.
- Hark! A Vagrant: Searching for the wild things gets one pajama wearer to the "Wrong Island", where the lame things are.
- The Simpsons: The episode "The Girl Who Slept Too Little" includes a parody entitled "The Land of the Wild Beasts".
- In the Arthur special "D.W. and the Beastly Birthday", it has DW's sub-plot be like this. She ends up on an island where the wild things are replaced by her friends (but still resemble the wild things from the book), while a creature that looks like Arthur is also there. The Wild-Thing!Arthur helps {DW} escape when the others would not let her leave.
