Recap / Yu Gi Oh VRAINS Ep 82 Whats Beyond Instincts

Go To

Playmaker has somehow survived GO's brutal attack. He attempts to turn things around with his Skill, but GO then negates it with Anti-Skill. Playmaker is now totally driven into a corner. Is there any way he can get out of this one?!

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • Didn't See That Coming: Go never accounted for Playmaker's skill being changed to have a second activation condition, and thus is completely blindsided when Playmaker is able to use it a second time.
  • Evolving Credits: ED4 is updated to include both "Firewall Dragon" and "Firewall eXceed Dragon".
  • Hard Work Hardly Works: For all the Training from Hell GO underwent just so he can stand a chance at beating Playmaker, GO ultimately loses to him a second time because Playmaker's Skill has been changed. Grinding for days (or even weeks) on end will get you nowhere when luck is a major factor in any victory.
  • Heroic Second Wind: Despite the negation of Neo Storm Access thanks to GO's Anti-Skill, Playmaker is able to activate his Skill a second time, as his LP was reduced to 100 and failed to acquire a card the first time the Skill was activated. In addition to acquiring a random Cyberse Extra Deck Monster from the Data Storm, Playmaker also draws a card.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Playmaker attempts to exploit this trope by deliberately coaxing GO into using Anti-Skill, so that he can be defeated with "Draw Discharge" (by getting GO to draw two cards after negating Neo Storm Access). This fails, however, as GO counters with "Dino Sense", negates and banishes "Draw Discharge", and brings down Playmaker's LP to 100.
  • Hope Spot: Subverted. Playmaker appears to be in a hopeless situation after he fails to acquire a card via Neo Storm Access thanks to Anti-Skill, and when he fails to deliver a One-Hit Kill to his opponent and has his efforts countered, leaving him with only 100 LP. It's revealed, however, that Playmaker gets to activate his Skill a second time since his LP was reduced to 100 and failed to acquire a card with said Skill the first time; he goes on to activate Neo Storm Access again, and acquires "Firewall eXceed Dragon" without issue.
  • Manly Tears: GO starts to cry after recalling his past before the AI implant and the children from the orphanage.
  • Oh, Crap!: GO reacts in shock to Playmaker bringing out an Xyz Monster.
  • One-Hit Kill: Playmaker depletes all 4000 of GO's LP in a single turn, destroying "King T Wrextle", which had its ATK reduced to 0, with the 4500 ATK "eXceed Dragon".
  • Rage Breaking Point: Queen visibly becomes mad at Akira because he defied her orders by forcing GO out of LINK VRAINS after his defeat at Playmaker's hands.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Unable to submit to Queen's authority any longer, Akira evacuates GO out of LINK VRAINS after he loses to Playmaker, angering Queen.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Subverted. Playmaker is coaxed into attacking "King T Wrextle" with "Firewall Dragon" first before "Xceed Dragon" can, a risk he accepts but would lead to Playmaker's defeat as "Firewall Dragon" boasts lower ATK than "King T Wrextle". Playmaker gets around this, however, by negating the attack with "Firewall Guardian", then reducing "King T Wrextle's" ATK to 0, and finishing the Duel with "eXceed Dragon".
  • Wham Shot: Playmaker Xyz Summoning "Firewall eXceed Dragon", which is also the very first instance of Xyz Summoning in the series.
