Recap / Yu Gi Oh VRAINS Ep 105 Intercept

Go To

Ai launched an attack against Queen, in order to steal the code necessary to infiltrate SOL's system. Ai also left a message for Akira, claiming credit for the attack and promising to target him next. Playmaker is filled with conflicting emotions after learning that Ai has started attacking humans. Meanwhile, Revolver sets up an anti-Ignis AI known as "Pandor", and heads off to fight against Ai.

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • Apologetic Attacker: Ai apologizes to Akira for targeting him so soon after his attack on Queen, as it leaves Akira only a few days to enjoy the promotion he's been given thanks to Ai.
  • Avengers Assemble: Akira assembles Playmaker, Soulburner, Blue Maiden, GO, Ghost Girl, Blood Shepherd and the Knights of Hanoi to counterattack Ai, who has gone rogue.
  • The Bus Came Back: Go's first non-opening or ending appearance since his defeat at the hands of Playmaker.
  • Call-Back: Akira recognizes Kolter from his duel with Playmaker.
  • Easily Forgiven: Averted. Even with the truth behind Lightning's actions exposed and the Knights of Hanoi no longer targeting SOL Technologies, Hanoi's past crimes are neither forgiven or forgotten. Revolver himself states that he is prepared to accept responsibility for his organisation's past actions, even if it leads to their arrest.
  • Enemy Mine: The Knights of Hanoi team up with Cafe Nagi and SOL Technologies once again, this time to combat the threat Ai and Roboppi pose to humanity.
  • I Choose to Stay: Takeru had planned to return home following the events of the Ignis Warfare, but changes his mind following Ai's declaration of war on SOL Technologies, as he wants to find out more about Flame.
  • Internal Reveal: Aoi and Akira finally meet Playmaker in real life and learn that he is Yusaku.
  • Now, Let Me Carry You: Aoi tries to talk Yusaku out of battling Ai, because she knows it would be hard on him since they were partners, asking him to let her and the others fight on his behalf. Yusaku ultimately joins the battle anyway, feeling responsible for Ai.
  • Ship Tease: Yusaku and Aoi spend some time alone together in a park after Akira departs for work, and Aoi expresses her thanks to Yusaku in the form of a handshake for the countless number of times he helped the Zaizens out.
  • Start X to Stop X: Revolver creates his own AI with free will (although slightly limited) called Pandor to counteract Ai, one of the six original AI with free will.
  • Two-Keyed Lock: Queen's code key is only one-half of the code necessary to access the SOL mainframe, Akira possessing the other half.
  • Unexplained Recovery: GO is back to his former self, though the exact details as to how he recovered following his second loss to Playmaker are unclear.
