"Little Green Men and a Fella's Marriage Proposal" is an episode of Young Sheldon that first aired on April 27, 2023. According to TV Guide,

Sheldon wants to search for life on other planets and Mandy answers Georgie's marriage proposal. Also, Missy is caught between two friends.

The sneak peeks show:

  • Georgie and Mandy accidentally lock the keys in the car while CeeCee is inside, and try not to panic, but Mandy panics anyway. Georgie wants to break the window, but Mandy won't let him. Georgie then goes and gets a coat hanger from the other car so he can pick the lock.
  • Mandy takes CeeCee to the pediatrician, and Georgie shows up during the appointment. The doctor assumes that Georgie and Mandy are married, but Georgie says they aren't, which prompts Georgie and Mandy to start arguing.
  • Missy asks for advice on what to do, since a friend invited her to do something at the same time that she had scheduled something with another friend. George Sr. and Connie both say "I think you know what to do", which doesn't help. Mary agrees and says "I'm not just your mother, I'm also your friend", which prompts Missy to walk away.
  • Sheldon wants to search for exoplanets in the hope of finding extraterrestrial life. Dr. Linkletter says no, claiming that Sheldon's theories are pseudoscience. Dr. Sturgis supports Sheldon's theories, but is worried that he will become a laughingstock in the scientific community.

Tropes:

  • Description Cut: After Dr. Linkletter tells him that he'll be a laughingstock if he tries to look for extraterrestrial life, Sheldon says that he'll ask someone who's more open minded. Cut to him with Dr. Sturgis, who tells Sheldon the same thing.
  • Friend-or-Idol Decision: Missy had already made plans to go to the movies with Billy when she gets invited to a party by the same girl who wanted to Prank Date Billy. Wondering whether to go to the party or stay with Billy, she asks George and Connie, and both of them tell her "I think you know what to do". She tells Billy, who guesses that she got invited and tells her to go, that they can go to the movies another day. Adult Sheldon tells the viewers, "If you're hoping my sister made the noble decision, you and Billy are about to be sorely disappointed."
  • A Good, Old-Fashioned Paint Watching: Turns out looking for life in outer space entails looking at number data from the telescope in Hawaii and looking for anything out of the ordinary. Thus, we are treated to the sight of Sheldon and Dr. Prakash staring at monitors full of numbers looking for deviations in the data, which never come. During The Tag, Linkletter and Sturgis join them.
  • The Key Is Behind the Lock: Mandy panics when she locks CeCe in the car with the car keys still inside.
  • Not So Above It All: At the end, Drs. Linkletter and Sturgis laugh at Sheldon being with Dr. Prakash looking for aliens. Then Sturgis says that Sheldon would become the most famous scientist in the world if he actually succeeded in finding extraterrestrial life. Cut to the two of them joining Sheldon in staring at telescope data.
  • Prank Date: Billy is invited to a date by a popular girl. Brenda asks Missy about her, and Missy tells her that she's setting up Billy to humiliate him. Brenda forbids Billy from dating to keep him from being humiliated.
  • Shout-Out: Sheldon is watching the Star Trek: The Original Series episode "A Taste of Armageddon" with Mary.
