Episode 101: Otherworld

Takes place 22 April-2 May 2012.

Short version

Paul and a Justice League team visit Witch World to gather information about the Sheeda, but find that the Sheeda are already attacking there.

Longer version

The League has decided that in order to handle the threat the Sheeda pose, they should try to get assistance from people who oppose them, the people of Witch World. They decide to send a small team to Witch World consisting of OL, Doctor Mist, Accomplished Perfect Physician, Wonder Woman, John Stewart, Blue Lantern, Captain Atom, Canis, and Starfire.

In Witch World, the heroes make contact with the puritans, who point them in the direction of the warlocks (whose Sheeda DNA has been activated, causing significant physical mutations), while also providing some assistance. The warlock-breed village turns out to have come under Sheeda control, but the party is able to kill or capture the few Sheeda present and liberate it.

In the Renegade timeline, the Sheeda Harrowing fleet arrives on Earth.

  • Alternate Universe: We get to see the first day of the version of the SI in Warhammer. We also get to see him slightly further on, discussing matters with Mallobaude.
  • Literal Disarming: Paul loses both arms at once to a Sheeda ambush. Fortunately he's entirely capable of summoning his rings back by thought alone. He later embeds the rings in his torso and skull so he doesn't lose them so easily.
  • Organ Theft: The Sheeda do this to the warlocks. Their use of biomagic apparently gives them considerable flexibility in attaching new parts; one discusses the possibility of taking a tongue in order to experience a sense of taste like their captives have.
  • Healing Factor: Paul regrows his arms and torso during combat when ambushed by a Sheeda. Ordinarily, having both arms — and rings — cut off might impede that, but he has enough control to summon them back.
  • Sins of Our Fathers: The puritans of Witch World discriminate against the descendants of warlocks.
  • Trigger-Happy: Beulah Bleak fires on Paul as soon as she sees an orange dot in the sky. Then fires again when he comes to the ground and greets her. The second one might have been because she recognised him.
