Recap / The Suite Life On Deck S 2 E 7 Goin Bananas

Go To

Zack turns in one of Cody's old term papers as his own, without realizing that Cody had inserted a bizarre passage about a fictional banana-phobia, so Mrs. Tutweiller sends him to see a counsellor. After London's phone is taken away from her, she goes through withdrawal, prompting Bailey to help her find something new to do to keep her hands busy. Woody spends all of his time playing a virtual reality game and has a virtual girlfriend who turns out to be Addison.

Tropes:

  • Absurd Phobia: Downplayed. Cody only lied that he had a fear of bananas as a way to stop theft. Addison however, is afraid of ping pong balls which Mr Blanket is trying to cure her of.
  • Acquainted in Real Life: The girl that Woody is dating in Better Life is actually his classmate Addison.
  • Always Someone Better: Both Zack and Cody feel this way towards each other.
Zack: Nothing I ever do seems good enough. It's not always easy being compared to you.
Cody: How do you think I feel? You’ve always been better at sports and girls and had more friends than me. Academics is the one place I can excel and be my own person, not just Zack's nerdy brother.
  • Comically Missing the Point:
Miss Tutweiller: Who can tell me what they know about the Kaiser?
Woody: Ooh! If you want your pastrami on it, it costs an extra dollar.
Cody: She means the Kaiser of Germany.
    Woody: Oh! An extra euro.
  • Confiscated Phone: Miss Tutweiller confiscates London's phone after she was caught texting in class.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Cody has archives of all his past papers with a bizarre paragraph in each of them to stop thieves from using them.
  • Election Day Episode
  • Hidden Depths: London is actually really good at Calligraphy but she doesn't find it that useful, much to the disappointment of Bailey and Miss Tutweiller.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: When Cody tells Zack they could've avoided this whole incident if Zack had just done his own schoolwork, Zack tells him that even if he did write his own essay, it would just be dismissed as poor compared to the genius work Cody submits.
  • Phoneaholic Teenager: London has multiple phones and electronic devices and after they gets taken away, she can't stop tapping her fingers.
  • Pop-Up Texting: In the beginning of the episode, the classes' texts to each other are shown on screen.
  • Stolen Credit Backfire: Zack steals an old term paper Cody wrote on Louis XIV. But Cody wrote a paragraph that talks a bizarre fear of bananas, as Cody always includes a fake paragraph in papers he archives to keep others like Zack getting away with plagiarizing his work, Miss Tutweiller has Zack see the counsellor Mr. Blanket to help him, and she wouldn’t the paper until Zack has the overcome his fear of bananas.
