Recap / The Interns S 3 E 6

Go To

Varya decides to help Lobanov to restore his relationship with Olga and return him home. Meanwhile, Bykov plans to restart his relationship with Kisegach, wether Gleb likes it or not.

Levin and Varya must work with children today... but it turns out that Levin simply doesn't know how to work with them, and consistently messes up, with them blatantly mistreating him. Unfortunately, Varya deals with her work no better than him, since she can't force children to do something they don't like. In the end, Bykov tells them that this is the last time he ever allows them to work with children.

Meanwhile, Bykov makes a bet with Kupitman, and Romanenko with Lobanov, who would first acquire a new date... and unknowingly to them, each one of them tries to date the same woman, a nurse Anna. She quickly gets disturbed by this, and asks Kisegach for help. But instead of abandoning this bet altogether, Bykov unites with Kupitman, and Romanenko with Lobanov, to prove that they are "superior" to the "opposing team". This leads to nowhere, since, unknowingly to them, Anna is already taken. Lobanov gets busted by Olga (who was invited by Kisegach on Varya's request) when flirting with Anna, harming their marriage even more. And Kisegach finally snaps and restarts her affair with Bykov, thinking that all this was him manipulating her.

This episode provides examples of:

  • The Bet: Gleb and Semyon makes a bet: who would be first to date a new nurse Anna. Unknowingly to them, Bykov makes the same bet with Kupitman. This quickly goes too far. They don't stop even after Anna asks Kisegach to turn them all off, since now they are aware of each other, so each pair unites against the other to prove their "superiority".
  • Bring My Brown Pants: Varya needs to make her kid patient to defecate, but he spends a whole day refusing. Levin (still in red paint-stained coat from his previous misadventures) scares him enough to "fix" the situation right on the spot.
  • Butt-Monkey: Due to Levin obstinately refusing to adapt for working with children, he constantly gets mistreated by them, specifically, they constantly covers his coat with everything they can find, usually food.
  • Chekhov's Gun: In the beginning of the episode, Varya asked Lyuba to help Lobanov with his wife, Olga, and Lyuba decided to call her. In the end, Olga appears in the hospital, just in time to bust Lobanov during his attempt to flirt with Anna, and when Anna tells that Semyon is still married, Lobanov answers that he is "almost divorced already", unaware that Olga can hear all this. Olga, who was ready to give him another chance, is hurt even more by this.
  • Child Hater: Downplayed. Levin does not hate children, but rather he can't tolerate childish behaviour, and expects everyone to act seriously, regardless of age, and refuses to adapt out of principle. If children starts protesting their treatment, he acts rather rude. This provokes them to retaliate, constantly humiliating him.
  • Dump Them All: Nurse Anna rejects all four suitors. In no uncertain terms. Plus, she is already taken by somebody else.
  • Friend to All Children: Unlike Levin, Varya is much more popular with children, and much more happy with possibility to work with them than him. Unfortunately, she can't force them to do something they don't like, wasting time on futile attempt to force one kid to... defecate.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Semyon participating in that stupid bet (which he doesn't even win) only ruins his (possibly last) chance to reunite with Olga.
  • Not What It Looks Like: Varya comes in on-call room just in time to see Semyon crying over a movie (specifically, during the scene when one character says "we can't be together"). Except, Lobanov cried because mustard was too spicy.
  • Unwanted Harem: Romanenko, Lobanov, Bykov and Kupitman all tries to date a new nurse, Anna. This quickly starts being uncomfortable, so she comes to Kisegach for help.
