Go To

Molly tries to help country singer Kenny Star get back in touch with his roots after an endorsement deal gone wrong tanks his reputation.

Tropes:

  • Atrocious Alias: While in disguise, Kenny gives himself the name Norm L. Mann.
  • The Bus Came Back: Kenny Star, the country singer in Season 1, returns in this episode. He even puts on a concert at the Brighton bandshell, having missed his chance to back then.
  • Does Not Like Spam: After being served a turnip omelette with a whole turnip on top, Kenny asks Molly if anyone actually likes turnips. Molly can only shrug and go "Ehhh?"
  • Even the Dog Is Ashamed: Kenny's pet eagle Stripes turns his back on him after one too many showings of how he's been swayed by the glamorous lifestyle. He returns at the end though.
  • Hell Hotel: The Brighton Motor Lodge Motel is a past-its-prime joint in bad enough disrepair that the lobby is overrun with raccoons, which the desk clerk is busy fighting off with a broom when Kenny and Molly arrive to get him a room.
  • Lactating Male: Averted. Kenny tries to milk a goat, until Molly points out that it's a male.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Darryl and Scratch sell all of Kenny's belongings online which brings the paparazzi to Brighton so they can shame him further. They don't keep their money as Molly steals their earnings to finance Kenny's comeback concert.
  • Manly Tears: Kenny breaks down over his current reputation while at the store.
  • Opinion Flip Flop: After Kenny restored his reputation, the paparazzo who called him a sell-out claims he always believed in Kenny.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Kenny's Norm L. Mann persona is just him with a fake mustache. Molly sees right through it.
  • Rich in Dollars, Poor in Sense: Kenny is shown to be comically out of touch at times thanks to living so long with wealth and fame, though he gradually gets over it.
