"All for one and fuck 'em all!"

"I'm all these different versions of me, right, so is this me or a performance of me?"
Stoner Zoë

Zoë's version of the reunion is told in an animated art style, where she's was in constant conflict with her repressed fun self, "Fun Zoë".

Meanwhile, Detective Culp catches Aniq and Yasper trying to eavesdrop in on Zoë's testimony.

Tropes:

  • Birth-Death Juxtaposition: Invoked when the group suggests Jenn 1 could have done the murder. She protests that she's incapable of it as a pregnant woman. Yasper comments that it would make poetic sense: she kills someone before birthing another.
Yasper: The number stays the same!
  • Cutting Back to Reality: In the animated story regular Zoë talking to fun Zoë about their reunion decision-making. In real life Zoë is talking to herself out loud, switching sides to represent each self, to Danner's concern.
Danner: Is this something I should be concerned about?
  • Insane Troll Logic: On two levels when Chelsea notes that Jen #1 accusing Aniq of being the killer could be deflection:
    • Jen #1 protests that she is pregnant so she cannot be the killer. But that stretch of logic is nothing compared to...
    • Yasper's theory that she killed Xavier and births a new person "so the number stays the same."
  • Mama Bear: Invoked. The angry, protective version of Zoë that arises when she reacts to Brett's neglect of their daughter to the reunion is called "mama bear Zoë" and drawn as a big, brown bear.
  • Medium-Shift Gag: The show switches to animation for Zoë’s flashback, complete with character designs based on her art style. Compare Aniq’s character design to a drawing she had done of him earlier in the season.
  • Nonconformist Dyed Hair: Zoë's funner imaginary version of herself, "Fun Zoë", has bright red streaks in her hair.
  • The Reveal: Zoë's testimony reveals that Jenn 2 was sending the threatening texts to Chelsea in a misguided attempt to help her out.
  • Rooting for the Empire: In-universe as Zoe is surprised to see Xavier still has a poster for Bye Bye Birdie that he starred in high school in his room with Xavier boasting on how he liked playing Conrad, "the star of the show." Zoe points out the real lead is actually nice quiet songwriter Albert, not the arrogant, self-centered Conrad.
  • Squiggle Vision: Zoe's testimony is animated in a style emulating sharpie doodles.
