Scott attempts to control his anger and transformation so he can spend more time with Allison, assisted by Stiles and a heart monitor. Derek continues trying to make an ally of Scott in order to defeat the Alpha, and Jackson is feeling the effects of having been scratched.
Tropes applying to this Episode:
- Arc Symbol: This episode is the first time the characters mention the spiral symbol that has been appearing repeatedly through the first six episodes.
- Bait-and-Switch: The intro implies that the Alpha has tracked Scott down and is coming to kill him. In reality, it's a surprise training session from Derek, which Scott ultimately fails.
- Closet Shuffle: Scott is forced to hide in the closet when Kate interrupts his make out session with Allison.
- Compromising Call: Scott is doing a decent job of keeping his distance from his pursuer and concealing his location until his phone rings, giving away his hiding spot.
- Gilligan Cut: Derek and Scott having a screaming match about the importance of staying away from Allison until after the full moon. Scott angrily swears that he will stay away from her. The scene then cuts to Scott and Allison making out hot and heavy in Allison's bedroom.
- Lightswitch Surprise: Scott raises home after encountering the Alpha. He's so preoccupied by that danger that he fails to notice Derek sitting in a chair beside the bed and is badly startled when he finally turns on a light. It's made all the funnier because Derek is visible to the audience who then has to way for Scott to notice.
- Teach Him Anger: Derek works to teach Scott to control his shift by using anger and pain.
