    Chapter 1: Winds of Change

Tokyo, 1930. A young girl named Sakura Amamiya is being pursued by a demon near her home during the Battle of Tokyo. She gets to a nearby tree before the demon scratches part of the tree. But then, Sakura Shinguji kills the demon to rescue Amamiya from certain death. Eventually, the Imperial, Paris, and New York Combat Revues become victorious against the demons, but at the cost of their disappearance.

Ten years later, Seijuro Kamiyama is an ensign of the Imperial Japanese Navy. He arrives in Tokyo via an airship to assume command of a newly-established Imperial Combat Revue. While in Central Station, another demon suddenly attacks and Kamiyama saves a young girl before ordering everyone else to evacuate. He takes on the demon, but is quickly knocked down. Suddenly, a green-colored Wanglong piloted by Xiaolong Yang of the Shanghai Combat Revue rescues Kamiyama and destroys the demon. With the attack thwarted, Kamiyama continues onward to the Grand Imperial Theater, where the Imperial Combat Revue is stationed.

Arriving at the theater, he encounters Sakura Amamiya for the first time since their separation during the Battle of Tokyo. Shortly afterwards, they are greeted by Sumire Kanzaki, the general manager of the Grand Imperial Theater and commanding officer of the Imperial Combat Revue. She welcomes Kamiyama into the organization and appoints him captain of the Flower Division, the main combat unit of the Revue. He is subsequently introduced to two of his new sisters-in-arms: Hatsuho Shinonome, a tomboyish shrine maiden; and Clarissa "Claris" Snowflake, a Luxembourger scholar. He also befriends Wind Division members Komachi Oba (the gift shop's new retail clerk from Osaka) and Kaoru Rindo (Sumire's secretary).

After becoming acquainted with his new comrades, Sumire gives Kamiyama his first mission: take tickets for the Revue's performance of the Japanese epoch Momotaro. To Kamiyama's confusion, the opening night of the play is derailed from the start. A look in on the performance reveals the reason behind this: Sakura and the other actresses are so uncoordinated that they end up tripping over themselves, trashing the stage in the process.

When the Revue concludes their run of Momotaro, the sad state of affairs of the Imperial Combat Revue are laid bare. In addition to the disastrous performances, the Theater is running low on funds. The only combat armor available to the Flower Division are three obsolete Type 3 Kobu units, leaving Kamiyama without any armor of his own to use. Worse still, the Imperial Combat Revue's poor performance has put them in danger of being disbanded by the Imperial Japanese Army unless they can reverse their fortunes.

To that end, Sumire and Kamiyama agree on a course of action: to enter — and win — the Combat Revue World Games, a biennial tournament between the combat revues of the world to gauge their skills on the stage and the battlefield. The prospect leaves Hatsuho and Claris fearful of what they believe will be a humiliating defeat, but Sakura is determined to win, no matter what.

Not making things easy is the Shanghai Combat Revue, whose representatives pay the Theater a visit: Xiaolong and his lieutenant, Yui Huang, the latter of whom Kamiyama encountered just outside the women's bath moments earlier. The two tell Sakura and her friends they have no chance of winning. Kamiyama, however, declares his intent to win to them.

After they leave, doubts still linger as to whether they have any hope. Sakura, frustrated by her comrades' pessimism, storms off to practice her swordsmanship. Kamiyama follows after her and tries to reassure her, but even Sakura is having doubts of her own. She joined the Imperial Combat Revue in the hopes of following in the footsteps of Sakura Shinguji. With how awkward she is on stage and her lack of combat experience, however, she begins to wonder if her dream is even still within reach...

The following day, Sakura visits Kamiyama in his room to clear the air between them. Kamiyama confides in Sakura about the source of the doubts he harbors: before being transferred to the Flower Division, he was the captain of his own ship in the Imperial Navy, the Marishi-Ten. One fateful day, demons attacked a nearby civilian ship. While Kamiyama was able to fend off the demons until the Shanghai Combat Revue arrived and prevent any casualties, the Marishi-Ten was lost. Ever since then, Kamiyama found himself wondering if there was another way he could've handled that crisis, such that he didn't have to sacrifice a ship...

Suddenly, alarms sound within the Theater: demons have bombed Ginza and are converging near the Theater. It's time to sortie!

Sakura, Kamiyama, and company make their way to the Theater's command room, where they learn that the demons are launching a large-scale attack on Tokyo. With Shanghai currently on dispatch to Yokohama to contend with another demon incursion, the Imperial Combat Revue is the only force capable of countering this threat. With Kamiyama still lacking his own battle armor, he is forced to remain in the command room and direct the battle while Sakura, Hatsuho, and Claris board their Kobus and deploy.

Just as Sakura and the others turn the tide of the battle and begin to rout the demons, a mass of dark energy suddenly engulfs Ginza, transporting Sakura and the others into a dark realm. Hatsuho and Claris's Kobus are incapacitated, but Sakura's armor is still functional; thus, against the warnings of her allies, she charges forth to find the demon responsible for the dark realm's emergence. The deeper Sakura ventures into the dark realm, the more demons she encounters. As it seems that she is in danger of being overwhelmed, two Wanglongs arrive on the battlefield. It's the Shanghai Combat Revue! But they're not here to help the others out that easily. In an effort to defuse the situation, Yui implores Sakura to join forces with Shanghai. Sakura, however, refuses: to do so would mean to forsake her dream, and that is one thing she will not do.

With Sakura and Yui at an impasse, Xiaolong is left with no choice but to force Sakura to retreat by instigating a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown. As Sakura musters up enough strength to stand up in spite of his beatdown, Kamiyama begins to feel guilty: Sakura's show of bravery in spite of insurmountable odds contrasted with his own mindset of "what will be will be". He has to do something! Anything!

This is exactly what Sumire wanted to see from Kamiyama. She orders aid from the Revue's airship, the Skywhale, which crashes through the barrier engulfing Ginza and delivers combat armor to Kamiyama: the Mugen, a new model of spiricle striker!

Meanwhile, Xiaolong performs a Neck Lift on Sakura's Kobu and prepares to finish her off, but Kamiyama makes his Dynamic Entry in the Mugen and rescues her in the nick of time. Determined to protect Tokyo and inspired by Sakura, Kamiyama charges forth into the dark realm with Sakura at his side while the Shanghai team holds off the advancing demons. Together, they find the Hellfiend at the center of the dark realm and destroy it, dispelling the dark energy around Ginza.

This victory proves to be a big morale boost for the Imperial Combat Revue, as Kamiyama, Sakura, and company plan to win the World Games. At the same time, however, there is no rest for the weary: the emergence of the dark realm points to the involvement of a greater demon, one that has their sights set on the theater and the Imperial Combat Revue...

Chapter 2: A Handful of Bliss

The Imperial Combat Revue celebrate their first victory with a toast. Unfortunately, Kaoru tells Kamiyama that the Revue doesn't have any funds for either lighting or catering due to the development of his Mugen. In an effort to boost their stage and battle performances, Sumire has brought in two people: Anastasia Palma, a world-renowned Greek actress; and Reiji Shiba, the Revue's resident mechanic/stagehand and long-time classmate of Kamiyama's.

Later, in an effort to promote the Revue's upcoming stage play, Sumire appoints Kamiyama to become director of its publicity department and gives him a box with a red button on it. By pushing the button, Kamiyama is able to transform into the Revue's mechanical mascot, the Grand Imperial Peanut. Later, while checking up on the Kobus in the repair bay, Kamiyama not only learns from Reiji that the spirit crystals powering them were shot, but Hatsuho and Claris's kobus are completely destroyed.

When Kamiyama begins promoting the stage play as Peanut, he encounters a young ninja wearing a yellow maid uniform. Her name: Azami Mochizuki.

Chapter 3: The Festival of Peace

Along with the Imperial Combat Revue, the Shanghai, London and Berlin Combat Revues are participating in the World Games. The Berlin Revue has won the first two World Games. Knowing that the Imperial Combat Revue has the lowest reputation out of the four Combat Revues, Sumire and Kamiyama formulate a battle strategy. Sumire orders Kamiyama and Sakura to meet with the revues' representatives.

Accompanied by Sakura, Kamiyama travels to Shenlong to meet up with Yui and Xiaolong and try out their cooking. Next, the two travel to the Grand Imperial Hotel, the headquarters of the London Combat Revue. Sakura briefly engages in a Sword Fight with Lancelot before Arthur, the London Revue's captain, stops them. Admiring Sakura's swordsmanship, Arthur wishes Kamiyama and Sakura good luck in the games. Traveling through the streets of Ginza, Sakura and Kamiyama are in the center of yet another demon attack. Fortunately, Elise and Margarethe of the Berlin Revue stops the invasion. After Kamiyama greets the Berlin Revue, he and Sakura return to the theater.

    Chapter 5: Fallen Petals

Kamiyama tells Sumire and Kaoru the stage and equipment repairs will take eight months. Meanwhile, Hatsuho has a disagreement with Sakura over what happened earlier and she leaves. Minutes later, Kamiyama tries talking to Sakura, but it's no use.

    Chapter 8: Passing the Torch

With Yaksha dead, Sakura and Kamiyama are suddenly sucked into a time vortex. They find themselves at the Amamiya home in the year 1930. Putting two and two together, Sakura realizes that her mother, Hinata Amamiya, must still be alive. Sure enough, Hinata is nearby, and mother and daughter share a long-missed embrace. Sakura begs her mother not to go through with the sacrifice needed to forge the Imperial Sword, but Hinata assures her that all will be well, and that she would gladly lay down her life to protect Sakura's future.

Her resolve renewed, Sakura prepares to return to 1940, only to see her 1930 self under attack by a demon. Then, in the blink of an eye, 1940 Sakura cuts down the demon and briefly meets the girl she used to be.

Sakura and Kamiyama return to the helm of their armors and blast off through the void back to the present. The Archdemon reaches out to clutch at them, but Sakura charges forward, undaunted.

Then, in a flash of light, a figure from the past emerges: Sakura Shinguji herself! Offering words of encouragement to the successor of her legacy, she holds back the Archdemon while using her power to breathe life back into the fallen Flower Division members.

Drawing on the Archdemon's power, Genan grows into a massive demon of overwhelming power. With the Flower Division reunited, however, Sumire enacts a final daring plan to stop Genan: the Septentrion Array, a spell that would restore Shadow Tokyo's seal, severing Genan from the Archdemon in so doing. With little time left until Genan could finish summoning the Archdemon, Kamiyama and company jump into action.

As Kamiyama starts to realize that, with seven singularity points required to activate the array, the Flower Division might be undermanned for the task, so the Combat Revues of Berlin, London, and Shanghai emerge to cover their bases. One by one, the singularity points are activated until, finally, Sakura is able to wrest the Amamiya Kunisada away from Genan and restore the seal for Shadow Tokyo. Severed from the power of the Archdemon, Genan becomes vulnerable, with Kamiyama taking advantage of the opportunity to say his Pre-Mortem One-Liner — "We are the Imperial Combat Revue, and we shall deliver justice!" — and land the final blow on him.

With Shadow Tokyo resealed and Genan destroyed, Tokyo and the world know peace once again. The Combat Revues of the world celebrate their victory together, and to solidify their camraderie, the Combat Revue World Pageant is formed, with the brave women of the Imperial Combat Revue, joined by their sisters-in-arms from around the world, headlining this new festival of peace.
