Recap / SK 8 The Infinity E 05 Passionate Night Dance

Go To

Reki has been discharged from the hospital with the other now concerned over Langa's well being since now he has to skate against Adam.

Tropes:

  • Anger Born of Worry: Reki is concerned over Langa having to race against Adam and while he does his best to dissuade the other. In the end all he can do is just have the other promise to be careful in his race.
  • Awesome by Analysis: Cherry managed to analyze Adam's "Love Hug" technique and all the tricks that goes into it.
  • Beat Them at Their Own Game: Instead of trying to escape Adam or pull away from him, Langa decides to "dance" with Adam, to the other's delight.
  • Catapult Nightmare: Reki has a PTSD nightmare of his race against Adam, but instead of him falling, it's Langa. Reki then shoots up in class screaming Langa's name.
  • Combat Pragmatist: To catch up to Langa, Adam uses the legs of the S participants who are nearest to him on the course to propel him forward and turn the corners easier.
  • Flowers of Romance: As Adam appears at S (on a red carpet no less), he brings out a large, flashy bouquet of roses for Langa who politely accepts.
  • Giggling Villain: Adam is giggling all throughout his race with Langa, clearly delighted at messing with the teen.
  • Grin of Audacity: Thinking Langa is afraid Adam looks down and realizes that Langa's actually enjoying the race as he then meets Adam in his "dance".
  • Hypocritical Humor: Reki mopes and asks Oka to try and stop Langa from racing, even adding in to threaten his job if he doesn't. Oka shoots back that this was coming from "the guy who doesn't listen to anyone".
  • I Have You Now, My Pretty: All of the unwanted touching Adam does to Langa throughout their race.
  • Instant Expert: Langa manages to quickly perfect Adam's Caspar Slide that he only saw once and after Miya and Shadow taught him the basics.
  • Mentor Archetype: Cherry and Joe play this role as they both give Langa advice about Adam, such as how Adam's Love Hug works and the best way to avoid him during their race.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: Just like in Reki's race, Adam gets close enough to Langa in order to "dance", dipping him and spinning him in the air, regardless of whether or not Langa wants it.
  • Quaking with Fear: Langa claims he'll be okay racing against Adam, but closer inspection of his hand shows he's actually a little scared. He even admits to himself as he's working that maybe he is a little worried about his race.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: When he realizes Langa could possible be his "Eve", Adam's eyes start to glow red with excitement.
  • Roll Out the Red Carpet: Adam rolls out an exceptionally long one just so he can appear in front of Langa and present him with a bouquet of roses.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Every S participant books it the hell out of Crazy Rock when the cops show up.
  • Stepford Smiler: Cherry manages to keep up his polite and cheerful persona even when Reki calls him "Cherry". It's only after he grabs the teen and takes him someplace where there's less people does he hit him over the head for breaking the rules of S.
  • Unusual Euphemism: One of the politicians note that Ainosuke looks cheerfully, which he happily confirms and says that he has a "date" tonight.
  • Worthy Opponent: Langa sees Adam as this which is part of the reason why he wanted to skate against him. When their race does start, Adam attempts to do the same thing he did to Reki by giving Langa a head start but is surprised to see the other was waiting on him. He apologizes for his rudeness and restarts the their race in earnest.
