Go To

Pops finds his nightmares being invaded every night by a mysterious being trying to get his address. This, in turn, keeps his friends awake due to some weird power (seen in last season's episode "Pop's Favorite Planet") emitting from him that causes objects to float in the air. Thus, the crew take it upon themselves to find a way for him to sleep peacefully.

Tropes:

  • Actor Allusion: The episode's title is a reference to A Nightmare on Elm Street. Anti-Pops, who makes his debut at the end of the episode, is voiced by Freddy Krueger himself.
  • Call-Back: Pops displays the same telekinetic powers as in "Pop's Favorite Planet".
  • Crazy-Prepared: After two nights of hard landings thanks to Pops' powers, Eileen has the foresight to tie pillows around her body to cushion her fall.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: The crew all enter into Pops' dream to fight the nightmare alien, but it turns out to be stronger than it looks and takes them all out easily. However when Pops sees his friends being hurt, he returns the favor to the alien.
  • Not Afraid of You Anymore: Pops says as much to the Nightmare Alien before laying the beatdown on him.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Pops manages to beat the alien and straps him to a rocket to finally kick him out of his dreams. However before he does so, Pops reveals his location to the alien which is exactly what he was trying to accomplish. What's more the alien reveals this to his boss, a much darker version of Pops.
  • Oh, No... Not Again!: Eileen says the trope name after Pops has his second nightmare.
    Eileen: Not again.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: Pops manages to beat the Nightmare Alien, but the alien manages to get what he wanted: Pops' location.
  • Sequel Hook: Someone who looks identical to Pops is looking for him.
  • Shout-Out: The title is based on the third film of the Nightmare on Elm Street series.
  • Spoofy-Doo: The cartoon Mordicai and Rigby try to show Pops, "Funky Wunky and the Groovy Gang," is obviously based on Scooby-Doo.
  • Wham Episode: We find out the nightmare alien was in the employ of someone who looks oddly like Pops, only eviler...and the alien was able to find out where Pops was and give him their location.
