Mordecai, Rigby, Muscle Man, High-Five Ghost, along with Benson this time, are once again summoned to help the Disc-Masters (previously seen on "The Last Laser Disc Player") stop a new threat, the DVD and its ally, Internet streaming.

  • Biting-the-Hand Humor: Internet claims that TV is dead, even though this episode originally aired on TV.
  • Death Is a Slap on the Wrist: Laserdisc is killed by Internet but later appears at the end as a ghost.
  • The End... Or Is It?: Internet is seemingly destroyed, only to reveal it's still alive at the end of the episode.
  • Epic Fail: The Cavalry arrives with ENIAC, the first computer, who then trips and explodes.
  • For the Evulz: Internet admits that he wanted to destroy obsolete formats simply for the "Lolz".
  • Heel–Face Turn: DVD when his father apologizes for not being there at his conception.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: DVD turns out to be the son of Laserdisc.
  • Sequel Episode: To The Last Laserdisc Player.
  • The Starscream: Internet was introduced as an ally to DVD. However once DVD makes up with Laserdisk, it turns on DVD.
  • Stock Scream: The Wilhelm Scream is heard from one of DVD's soldiers.
  • Take That!:
    • Pretty much at current media formats. Indeed DVD wound up making VHS obsolete while in turn, Internet streaming/wifi broadcasting is making DVDs obsolete.
Internet: Nobody cares about special features. Content is all that matters.
    • DVD is quick to point out that videos streamed on the Internet are poorly-compressed and if your server goes down, you can't stream anything.
DVD: If you don't stop Internet the world will have to settle for poorly compressed videos forever.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Oddly enough, a character representing Blu-Ray discs didn't appear at all, considering that the current rival, Internet streaming did appear. Either the writers forgot, didn't want to include it, or they're saving it for further down the line. It is eventually the latter, as Blu-Ray does finally appear in the Season 8 episode "Meet The Seer".
