Recap / Power Rangers Zeo S1E34 A Golden Homecoming

Go To

Time's almost up for the Gold Ranger powers! With the Zeo Crystal and much of the Power Chamber's power devoted to stabilizing the Golden Power Staff, Tommy attempts to sneak the next candidate for becoming the Gold Ranger to the Power Chamber safely on foot, but the Machine Empire catches wind of this and attacks the defenseless pair of humans. King Mondo revives some old monsters, upgraded with impenetrable armor, though Trey has a few parting gifts for the Rangers to even the score. Meanwhile, Goldar & Rito regain their memories and powers, and set about enacting revenge on Bulk & Skull.

  • Catchphrase:
Jason: It's been a long time, but... BACK TO ACTION!
  • The Faceless: During the run-up to the big reveal, Jason's face is obscured by sunglasses and the camera actively avoids focusing on his face.
  • Flashback: Goldar's dream starts out with a fight scene from the Mighty Morphin days.
  • Foreshadowing: Jason getting a line in Goldar's flashback is a subtle clue that he's returning.
  • Friendship Moment: Jason tells Tommy he knew he was leaving the team in good hands and assures him he's not going to try to take the leader spot away from him.
  • He’s Back: Jason's return is easily one of the most memorable moments in the season.
    • Goldar and Rito, after regaining their memories.
  • Spanner in the Works: The new armor was supposed to blindside the Rangers, but Billy detected it while scanning Jason to see if he fully absorbed the Gold Ranger powers. And Trey then provides the means to create the Super Zeo Zords.
  • The Bus Came Back: Jason finally returns from the Peace Conference to take on the mantle of Gold Ranger.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Luckily for Bulk and Skull, Stone is too devastated by the destruction of his car to yell at and punish them for it.
  • Wham Episode: Jason returns and becomes the Gold Ranger, while the other Rangers get a new fleet of Zords. Goldar and Rito get their memories back and rejoin Zedd and Rita.
  • Wham Shot: The one Tommy recruited to be the new Gold Ranger walks into the Power Chamber and is revealed to be the original Red Ranger.
