Recap / Power Rangers Mystic Force S1E19 Dark Wish Part 2

Go To

The Rangers find themselves in a world without color, music or good magic. They must seek out the Tribunal of Magic to reverse Imperious's wish.

Tropes

  • Above Good and Evil: The Tribunal members don't concern themselves with good or evil magic, just magic in general.
  • Brought Down to Normal: The Rangers can't morph (and have no magic), since they never became Rangers in this timeline.
  • Deliberately Monochrome: The world without the Rangers.
  • Do Wrong, Right: Koragg's morality is summed up by Nick.
So you want darkness to rule the world, but not if they don't do it nicely.
  • Enemy Mine: Koragg offers the Rangers his aid, because Imperious has started to go against the Master.
  • Freudian Trio: The Tribunal of Magic.
    • Black is the Id. He impulsively barks commands and asks blunt questions, not caring one bit if it angers the Rangers.
    • White is the Superego. She is the most stoic of the group and interacts with the Rangers politely.
    • Red is the Ego. He balances the others out by being reasonable and seeing both sides of the argument.
  • Hope Spot: Subverted. Red commends the Rangers for their courage and bravery getting to the Tribunal's realm, only to say their request has been denied and they're being sent back to Briarwood. The Rangers feel all hope is lost, but viewers see the Tribunal continuing to watch them, indicating there is still a chance to set things right.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Black is blunt, but he's right to ask how Jenji fell into evil hands in the first place.
  • Never My Fault: The Rangers refuse to acknowledge that they were responsible for Jenji being captured and thus the wish changing the world.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Koragg found and raised Fire Heart in the dark timeline.
  • Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory: The villains, including Koragg, remember the original timeline. So do the Rangers, because Imperious wanted them to always remember what they lost.
  • Tempting Fate: The Rangers take stock of everything bad that's happened to them, and remark that "this is officially as bad as it gets." Cue Koragg.
