Eusine is not happy that Ash has met two of the Legends he prizes.

When Team Rocket steals the sacred Crystal Bells from the Tin Tower of Ecruteak City, Eusine and Morty fear retribution may come. The twerps happen upon the scene, and resolve the get the Crystal Bells back. When the local Bug Pokémon, which rely on the Crystal Bells for healing, lash out on the humans of Ecruteak City, Ash receives help from a legendary ally.

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • All Webbed Up: The bug Pokémon proceed to web up all of Ecruteak City after the Crystal Bell is smashed.
  • Call-Back: Ash mentions that he encountered Suicune before, which infuriates Eusine. Ash is either referring to the events of "Don't Touch That 'dile" or Pokémon 4Ever.
    • Considering Ash had just ventured into Johto in the former case, it's likely he meant the Suicune from the film.
    • Before that, Eusine doesn't seem too keen on the fact that Ash had encountered Ho-Oh before as well.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Neither Jessie or Eusine stood a chance of capturing Suicune.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: Brock states that Tangela's Vine Whip is a special attack, explaining why it was able to pierce Alakazam's Reflect. While Vine Whip was a special move in the first three generationsnote , it became a physical attack starting in Gen IV.
  • Good Is Not Nice: Despite being on the side of good, Eusine has a pretty nasty temper not to mention he was rude to Ash.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Eusine has a pretty nasty one.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Eusine being the red oni to Morty's blue oni.
  • This Is Unforgivable!: Eusine is offended that an upstart trainer claims to have met two of the Legendary Pokémon, and challenges Ash.
