Liko and Roy are training in Pokémon battles and their friends are willing to help them out. Also, Liko and Roy find out that another member around their age is also a member of the Rising Volt Tacklers and is Murdock's niece.

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: Deconstructed. Liko and Roy keep spamming Leafage and Ember, but all that does is cause them to be distracted from actually attacking their opponent. A special training session with Captain Pikachu teaches them to keep an eye on their opponents' moves, then launch an attack when ready.
  • Child Prodigy: At her age, Dot designed the entirety of the tech systems for the Rising Volt Tacklers, including the app used on their Rotom Phones.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Liko and Roy's training with Cap consists entirely of trying to hit the Electric Mouse. They don't even touch him, as he just effortlessly dodges their attacks. Justified since he's much more experienced, and the whole point of the exercise wasn't to get them to hit Cap, but to learn how to pay attention to an opponent's movements.
  • Dramatic Irony: With The Reveal that Dot is Nidothing, Liko and Roy have no idea that they're literally on the same ship as their idol.
  • Epic Fail: In Liko and Roy's first proper battle with one another, all the two do is spam their partner's respective attacks over and over. All it does is exhaust Sprigatito and Fuecoco, without landing a hit on either target.
  • Internal Reveal: After the existence of another member was hinted at in "The Pendant of Beginning Part 2", Liko and Roy learn that there's a third kid onboard the Brave Olivine, Dot, Murdock's niece.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Dot doesn't have the smoothest introduction with Liko and Roy, as she has a Quaxly relay a crude drawing of Roy and Fuecoco getting their butts soundly handed to them to the new arrivals, all without greeting them. However, she does give them a similarly crude drawing of Rayquaza's location over the Paldea region after the two have picked up a bit on their battling skills.
  • Neat Freak: Quaxly's Pokédex entry states that the species is very concerned about its appearance, and this one slaps Roy away before he can touch the duck's coif.
  • No Social Skills: Nothing says this trope than Dot bluntly handing a crude drawing of Roy and Fuecoco getting beaten by Rayquaza to him via Quaxly.
  • The Reveal: Dot is revealed to be Nidothing.
  • The Shut-In: Dot refuses to come out of her room, not even to eat (apparently she sustains herself on vitamin gummies).
  • Terrible Artist: As passionate as she is as Nidothing, Dot's art skills are less than ideal, as both of the drawings she presents Roy and Liko are a bit crude looking.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Deliberately sought after by Liko and Roy, who want to get stronger to protect their pendant without Friede's assistance and being able to go toe-to-toe with the Ancient Rayquaza respectively. Friede understands and is more than happy to help the two learn. Their lessons with Cap pay off in dividend, as the two are able to learn about studying their opponents' movements before making their attacks.
