The British have devastated the Republic of Pirates and captured the crew, with only Stede, Ed, and Zheng Yi Sao remaining at large.

- 10-Minute Retirement: Ed's fishing career doesn't last a day, since the captain figures out pretty quickly he doesn't know how to fish. Then when he rows back into harbor to see the devastation, he dives for his leathers and becomes Blackbeard once more.
- Acquired Poison Immunity: When the British soldiers start dying from the poisoned brandy, the Swede starts to panic because he accidentally had some. Spanish Jackie reassures him that her whole household is "poison trained" and he'll be fine.
- Chekhov's Gun: Ed finally finds the Message in a Bottle that Stede wrote him.
- Crazy-Prepared: Spanish Jackie kept a bottle of "special" brandy on the bar in case she ever needed to poison her whole restaurant.
- Dressing as the Enemy: The crew steal the uniforms of the British soldiers.
- Married at Sea: Lucius and Black Pete are officially married by the crew of the Revenge. They decide to forgo the tradition of slashing each other's faces and just kiss instead.
- Nothing Is the Same Anymore: The Republic of Pirates is gone, Izzy is dead, Stede and Ed have temporarily retired, and Zheng, Auntie, and Spanish Jackie all join the crew.
- One-Man Army: Zheng, Stede, and Ed wind up killing their way through an entire party of British soldiers to get to the trapped crew.
- Profane Last Words: When Ed begs Izzy not to leave him and that he's his only family, Izzy tells him, "Fuck off, you twat. You're surrounded by family."
- Sorry That I'm Dying: Izzy's last words are to apologize to Ed for trying to push him into being Blackbeard.
- Villain: Exit, Stage Left: Ricky Banes manages to get away by shooting Izzy and running for it. Zheng vows to hunt him down and avenge her crew.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: We don't see Spanish Jackie's other husbands or the other pirates in the cell with Stede's crew again, with no mention made of their fate.
