Nathan has to step up on the court to save the Ravens dreams of making the play-offs whilst facing off with an old rival. Brooke and Mouth plot revenge against Rachel. Contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Amicable Exes: Jake and Nikki, now that the court is involved with their custody battle for Jenny.
  • Cassandra Truth: Jake doesn't believe Peyton when she brings up her brief relationship with Pete from Fall Out Boy.
  • Cliffhanger: After Jenny calls her "Mama", Peyton proposes to Jake. The episode ends before we see his response.
  • Exposition: When Cooper confronts Rachel about lying to him about her age, Rachel quickly points out that she’s over the age of consent in North Carolina.
  • Hollywood Restraining Order: Deb gets one against Dan, after he once again lets himself into his former family home.
  • Idiot Ball: Cooper, after ending things with Rachel because she lied about being a model in her twenties, is easily seduced back into bed by the teen.
  • Internal Reveal: Cooper finds out that Rachel isn’t a a model in her twenties, but rather a 17 year old high school student.
  • Out-of-Character Alert: Upon finding out that Rachel’s dating Nathan’s Uncle Cooper, Brooke quickly goes from whining that it’s not fair to realising Cooper isn’t the type of guy to knowingly date a teenager.
  • Papa Wolf: When Damien West continues to pester Haley, Dan winds up getting involved to make him back off.
  • Parental Substitute: Jenny winds up calling Peyton "Mama".
  • Pet the Dog: Dan's opinion of Haley softens slightly after overhearing her tell Nathan that she wishes his relationship with his father was better, enough that when Jerk Jock Damien West harasses her, Dan threatens him.
  • Redemption Quest: The Ravens are hosting a tournament which, by virtue of their poor start to the season and recent forfeits, they need to win if they hope to make the post-season.
  • The Rival: Damian West serves as one to Nathan, stemming from their time at High Flyers.
  • Shout-Out: The episode title is taken from the song "Everyday is a Sunday Evening" by The Blackouts.
  • Take Up My Sword: Nathan winds up wearing Lucas’ jersey for the final moments of the game, having been forced to change jersey after getting cut open during the game.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Cooper is not best pleased when he sees Rachel in her cheer uniform after the Ravens win, as he realises that she’s been lying about her identity.
  • You Remind Me of X: Nathan notes that Damien West reminds him of his father.
