Tropes:

  • An Aesop:
    • There is no way to know if things are ever meant to be or not, and ultimately our “destiny” is whatever we make it to be.
    • As MK states during the final battle; You can’t judge things by their worst qualities.
    • Even when there is darkness in the world, we can get through it by having people we love and care about by our side to remind us of the good.
  • Armor-Piercing Response: MK gives one to Lady Bone Demon as he tries to reclaim Monkey King's staff.
Lady Bone Demon: Oh, sweet child. Can't you see? Sun Wukong couldn't best me. What can you hope to accomplish when he has failed? Cast aside your stubbornness and face your demise with honor!
MK: If you really believe that destiny can't be changed, you wouldn't be using every ounce of power you have to keep him contained!
(A large crack forms on Lady Bone Demon's face)
  • Bookends:
    • Just like the last season finale fight with Lady Bone Demon, the battle ends with a giant mech reaching its full power, and towering over the enemy mech destroying it. Only this time, it's the Monkey Mech empowered by the energy of everyone around the world and all the heroes destroying the Bone Mech.
      • At the start, MK approaches the sealed staff. Like before, Lady Bone Demon warns Monkey King that You Can't Fight Fate, with Monkey King wants to see if they can Screw Destiny. Here, MK declares that they will do exactly that, since he sees that LBD is so obsessed with keeping her path to destiny in check.
    • Also on top of that, just like the Pilot Movie, the final battle of the special ends with MK using the Monkey Mech to finish off the enemy with an empowered staff attack, with the blowback being visible from space.
  • Break the Haughty: After spending 2 seasons fully convinced she was in the right, Lady Bone Demon’s unwavering stance on her “destiny” is throughly shattered once MK and his friends are able to overpower and defeat her. Her final moments show her as completely broken, with nothing left to do but resign herself to her end.
  • Cue the Sun: The sun (Or at least some rays of light) appears out of the blue dark sky when Son Wukong regains control of himself, signaling the turning point of the episode.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: The heroes defeat Lady Bone Demon through The Power of Friendship, and the ending shows how the characters and their relationships have grown over the past three seasons — Lady Bone Demon’s host is free and now hangs around the noodle shop, Red Son has become one of the heroes and is seen happily spending time with his parents, Macaque managed to pull his own Heel–Face Turn and is delivered noodles and drawings from MK, and Monkey King resolves to be a better mentor for MK, the two happily sharing a meal while watching the sunset together as the three-season arc comes to a close.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Outside of a moment of panic when she realizes the heroes are about to defeat her, Lady Bone Demon is rather solemnly calm in her final moments as she talks with MK.
  • "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: MK has one of these with Monkey King, and is able to reach him, prompting them to free the staff together.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Before she disappears following her defeat, Lady Bone Demon tells MK that their pursuit of fighting for what's right in their own way makes them more similar than they thought. She then warns them that this pursuit will lead MK to pain in the future.
  • Oh, Crap!: MK helps Monkey King fight off Lady Bone Demon's control and together, they finally unseal the staff, only to learn that LBD can now use her full power to use Mei's Samadhi Fire.
  • Pet the Dog: Macaque saves Lady Bone Demon's host after her possessor is forced out.
  • The Power of Friendship: The final battle against has everyone, including all those who the heroes have joined with or have been helped/redeemed by the heroes over the course of the past three seasons, giving their power to help MK defeat Lady Bone Demon — creating a gigantic, golden version of the Monkie Mech.
  • Shut Up, Kirk!: Lady Bone Demon spits at MK's friendship speech, calling it a "child's notion". It wasn't enough to prove him and his friends wrong, however.
  • The End... Or Is It?: As everything seems wrapped up for the story, with Tang ending his narration, and MK and Monkey King enjoying some Pigsy's Noodles food at a sunset, a mysterious scroll opens up behind the two as the special ends, potentially a sign of more adventures to come.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Once more, Lady Bone Demon loses it when she feels that she must take matters into her own hands, starting with finally abandoning her host.
  • Whatever Happened to the Mouse?: The "Mayor", Lady Bone Demon's most loyal servant, is no where to be found following last episode.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: When Lady Bone Demon tries to forcefully use Mei's power over the Samadhi Fire, Red Son gives Mei a pep talk that helps her regain control.
Red Son: Don't you give up on me, Dragon Girl! The Samadhi Fire is NOT her power! It's yours! Bend it to your will! Don't use the flame, Mei
    Mei: Be the flame.
  • You Called Me "X"; It Must Be Serious: Throughout the series, Red Son calls Mei by different nicknames (i.e. "Dragon Horse Girl", "Pony Girl", "Dragon Girl"), but during the above mentioned pep talk he gives her, he finally calls her by her name. Notably, this is the very first time in the show that he has called anyone by their name directly. The second time is when he participates in MK's finishing move catchphrase.
