Recap / Mickey Mouse S1 E14 "Sleepwalkin'"

Go To

"Sleepwalkin'" is one of the season 1 shorts of the new Mickey Mouse (2013) series created by Paul Rudish for the Disney Channel and Disney.com. It's the fourteenth to both air on the Disney Channel and put up on Disney.com.

Mickey volunteers to look after Goofy while he sleeps, as Goofy has been sleepwalking. When Goofy goes sleepwalking throughout the city, Mickey must save Goofy and get him to wake up.

Tropes:

  • Banana Peel: As Mickey hurries down the skyscraper to save a sleeping Goofy from falling to his demise, he slips on one and tumbles down the floors before rolling out the door and crashing into a fire hydrant.
  • Dream Sue: Goofy dreams he's a terrific athlete.
  • Going Down with the Ship: Parodied when the ship Mickey uses in a failed attempt to wake Goofy up hits an ice truck and sinks, with Mickey saluting.
  • Here We Go Again!: Invoked as Mickey freaks out at the prospect of having to run a marathon with Goofy in the morning after having to keep up with him all night long.
  • Impact Silhouette: Goofy leaves a number of these all over town. Mickey also leaves one at the end of the episode when he runs away from Goofy's apartment, freaking out from the thought of running a marathon with him... again.
  • Mythology Gag: Goofy dreaming that he's an athlete harkens back to his sport-themed shorts from the 1940s.
  • Nightmare Face: Mickey sports this after only getting seconds of sleep once he finally gets Goofy back to bed. It also makes him look more like an actual mouse, or maybe even a rat!
  • Oh, No... Not Again!: Mickey says the second half of this phrase when Goofy invites Mickey to run a marathon with him after he wakes up.
  • Portable Hole: Following the Banana Peel incident described above, Mickey kicks a hole where the fire hydrant used to be so that it ends up where Goofy will land, and the latter ends up in the sewers.
  • Toilet Humor: Played with, as Goofy swims through a pipe toward a portable outhouse on a construction site, but ultimately averted as Mickey redirects the pipe upward away from the outhouse.
  • Wingding Eyes: When attempting to wake Goofy at one point, Mickey lifts Goofy's eyelid to reveal a snoring pupil underneath.
