RAP

Original Airdate: December 20, 2020
Written by: Ayumi Shimo
Directed by: Ryuta Tasaki

Summary:

Carantula is interested in rap! Apparently he wants to use rap to create dark energy through a special mic of his. Meanwhile, the Kiramagers and Mashins are preparing for Crystas, the Crystalian equivalent of Thanksgiving. Pulled away from the preparations because of Yodonheim, the Kiramagers quickly go to deal with the threat. When Takamichi and Juru arrive on the scene late, they find that the team is corrupted by a mysterious "dark rap".

Tropes:

  • Battle Rapping: How the "fight" between Carantula and Juru goes down. It's essentially diss-rapping, but weaponized, with each side trying to insult each other into submission. Problem is, Juru sucks at insulting people and easily loses. It takes his rap battle with Fire to actually win the fight.
  • Big Damn Heroes: All of the Mashins (and we really do mean by all) come to the Kiramagers' need after hearing Juru and Fire's rap battle, forgiving the Kiramagers for all the troubles that they caused him.
  • Breaking the Fellowship: The Kiramagers (besides Juru and Takamichi), under the influence of Carantula's rap, insult the Mashins; saying that they only care about themselves and not Earth or the Kiramagers. Utterly baffled and disgusted, they break it off with the Kiramagers for the majority of the episode.
  • The Cameo: Popular rapper Shinpeita makes his appearance as the "Dark Rapper".
  • Dumb Muscle: For all her athletics, Carantula disses Sena as having a brain the size of her shorts.
  • His Name Is...: Before Zabyun can tell the Kiramagers about insulting others being forbidden on Crystas, he gets interrupted by the Yodon alarm.
  • Holiday Episode: The episode is partially centered on "Crystas", a Crystalian holiday that is akin to Thanksgiving. However, the biggest rule of the holiday is that you cannot absolutely insult a person whatsoever, which is what cause the Mashins to close themselves off from the Kiramagers.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The episode title is one to the 2017 movie TAP THE LAST SHOW.
  • Shout-Out: In this episode, Carantula uses rap to spread hate and turn the Kiramagers and the Mashins against each other, Similarly to the Hate Master from Season 3 of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
  • Take That!: How Carantula's mic works. He insults random people by attacking their flaws, which in turn ignites a vicious cycle of insults that spread rapidly among the crowds.
