Recap / Little Princess S 1 E 4 I Dont Know What To Be

Go To

The Princess is in her room, dressing the pets as ballerinas, but Puss doesn't like it. The narrator asks the Princess if she wants to be a dancer when she grows up, but she says no. The narrator asks the Princess what her dream job actually is, but she doesn't know.

She asks the Maid what she should be when she grows up, and the Maid says that it depends what the Princess likes to do. When the Princess says she has many interests, the Maid only hopes that she will be "helpful". When the Princess asks if that's an actual job, the Maid cryptically replies, "It's a job for some people."

The Princess asks the Admiral what he does, he replies that he "defends the country from naval attack". She asks if it's fun and he replies that it isn't meant to be, but it's very important. The Princess asks if she can be an admiral too and he asks if she's "commanding". She doesn't know what that means, so he clarifies, "Do people do what you say?". She remembers a time when she demanded her potty and was given it, so she decides that she is commanding.

The Princess then asks the Chef what his job is like, and he haughtily replies that turning potatoes into French fries is not cooking, but rather art. She then goes to the Prime Minister, who says that his job involves signing papers, handshaking, and kissing babies. Finally, she goes to the General, who shows off his uniform.

The Princess is now torn because she feels there are too many choices, and decides to try being an Admiral, General, Chef, and Prime Minister and see which she likes best.

She goofs around with the Admiral's telescope, stirs cake batter with the Chef, then she and the Prime Minister practice saying, "How do you do?", shaking hands, and kissing babies (using Gilbert as the "baby"). Then, the General has her practice marching.

The Princess then runs away and hides because she's still torn. She decides she wants someone to tell her what to be when she grows up, and calls for the King. He arrives, and so does everyone else. The Queen says that she should be what she wants, and so the Princess decides on either two options: a big princess, or a cat. She then gets tucked into bed.
