- Bad "Bad Acting": One of the first signs of Muses is someone coming up with the idea for a stage play. Because acting didn't exist before, actors clarify that they're playing a role and not the person they are outside of it after every line. In spite of this, the people love it.
- Body Horror: Shlub outright calls the disgusting process of his body rotting and falling apart for his metamorphosis this.
- Cut Lex Luthor a Check: Tyrannis convinces the remaining Muse to become like their traditional portrayal by pointing out that if she only gave ideas to those who wanted it, she could get things and adoration for it.
- Incest Subtext: Shlub and Deliria's relationship gets this at the end when the former's metamorphosis rendered him temporarily infantile and amnesiac so he sees the latter as his mother.
- Mix-and-Match Critters: Deliria and Shlub get attacked by a swarm of waspephants, which are wasps with the heads of elephants.
- Psychic-Assisted Suicide: Once freed, the Muses wreck havoc in Krapopolis by inspiring people with ideas that lead them to either suicide or murder.
- Speak in Unison: The Muses are shown to speak at the same time.
- Special Guest: Auli'i Cravalho guest stars as the Muses.
