Recap / Hang The Witch

Go To

Monokuma explains the rules for his "hunting" game, and reveals there is a traitor among the group.

  • Double-Meaning Title: "Hang the Witch" could possibly refer to Kirigiri's death, shown in the opening that she is hung by her neck, but also refers to the fact that a Witch Hunt started among the Branch Leaders.
    • Never Trust a Title: Considering the Troll nature of Danganronpa, this was very possibly meant to hint at Kirigiri's death, when it turned out it was Asahina who died and not even that was real.
  • Fridge Brilliance: It's hard to actually see, but paying attention, Kimura, Ruruka and Izayoi aren't pointing to Naegi. Kimura is pointing at Ruruka, while Ruruka and Izayoi are pointing at her, Munakata just took advantage of the situation.
  • A House Divided: As soon as the game sets off, the Branch leaders start fighting among themselves.
  • Kill the Cutie: Poor Aoi. Except not really.
  • Sacrificial Lamb: Bandai dies to exemplify the NG actions.
  • Sacrificial Lion: Asahina dies after surviving the second Killing Game. Or not.
  • Knight Templar: This episode solidifies Sakakura and Munakata qualities as such.
  • Witch Hunt: Munakata sets off to kill anyone who he thinks to be the traitor until he gets it right. Starting with Makoto.
  • White Sheep: Great Gozu and Gekkogahara go help Makoto, giving them the title.
    • Kimura was the only one to try to help Bandai, even pushing Sakakura out of the way.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Sakakura is about to hit Asahina before Mitarai stops him.
