Trubel learns the truth.

Nobody knows the trouble I've seen, nobody knows my sorrow.

Wesen bodies pile up in the wake of a mysterious woman who comes to Portland. Nick, Hank and Monroe first believe she's some kind of Wesen, but the truth is even more startling.

Desperate to find her baby, Adalind reaches out to anyone who could help her. Even Viktor, who spies an opportunity to strike back at Nick.

This work provides examples of:

  • Asshole Victim: All three Wesen Trubel kills. The first two tried to rape her and the third tried to mug her. In a more general sense, she keeps having to kill Wesen who attack her when they realise she's a Grimm.
  • Call-Back: Seeing Monroe, Wu greets him with, "Haven't seen you since the zombie romp."
  • Creepy Good: Nick and Hank explain things to Trubel by taking her to the trailer, which she very much does not want to enter. Hank points out that under the circumstances (they took her from the precinct secretively, drove her into the woods at night and brought her to a creepy-looking trailer, which does all scream "horror movie opening"), he wouldn't want to go in there either. Nick brings a book out to show her as a compromise. When she sees the drawings that are just like hers, she enters the trailer willingly to see what else is there.
  • Damsel out of Distress: Trubel is set up like the episode's Victim of the Week, but she ends up killing them both.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • Trubel puts on shades just before her fight with the girl from the store. Evidently she's found this gives her an edge, but doesn't know why. This foreshadows her being a Grimm; with the shades on, Wesen don't realise she's a Grimm and don't know what they're up against until it's too late.
    • Viktor reminds Adalind of Nick taking her powers, and asks if she'd like to return the favour.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: The entries in Trubel's notebook. The incidents recorded include a Dickfellig stalking her, a Maushertz or Reinegen bus driver, a Gelumcaedus who hassled her at a party and a Scharfblicke shopkeeper who ran away at the sight of her. What she's written includes "It's time to stop crying and start fighting back," "You don't know me, I don't even know myself, why do you hate me?", "I will not be broken!!! These MONSTERS will not DESTROY me" and "They can't kill me if I KILL THEM FIRST."
  • Mistaken for Insane: To no surprise, people mistook Trubel's Grimm powers and experiences as mental health problems. Even she was suspicious of her own sanity, at least until Nick showed her the trailer and what was in it.
  • Mugging the Monster: The three wesen Trubel kills all attack her thinking that she's a normal woman. The first two apparently don't notice that she's a Grimm while the third faces her when she's wearing sunglasses.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: The gang's plan in "The Law of Sacrifice" left Adalind thinking Viktor has the baby, meaning he has leverage to use her in a future plot against Nick.
  • Oblivious Guilt Slinging: Adalind cries on Monroe and Rosalee's shoulders about her missing baby, not realising they were involved in her disappearance.
Monroe: I'm sorry to bug you, but Adalind is here. And she is really upset.
Nick: She came back to your place?
Monroe: Yeah. Didn't see that one coming, did you?
    Nick: What does she want?
Monroe: Do you mean besides her baby? Well, uh, she has no place to go. She has no money, no car, no insurance. I mean, not that you need that if you don't have a car, I guess I don't know.
  • Oh, Crap!: Monroe is horrified when he realizes that Trubel isn't wesen but a Grimm.
  • Room Full of Crazy: Variation. Trubel has a notebook in her bag, full of sketches of the various Wesen she's come across all emblazoned with sentences on the theme, "Why do they keep attacking me?"
  • Shadow Archetype: Trubel is what could have happened to Nick had he not had anyone to show him the ropes of what being a Grimm meant and reassure him he wasn't crazy. So he chooses to pay forward what his aunt did for him by doing the same for Trubel.
  • Shout-Out: The final line, "They call me Trubel," refers to They Call Me Trinity.
  • Stronger Than They Look: Hank is less than impressed when he sees that a young woman is the one driving the truck stolen from two violent men (who are also strong wesen). Even Nick is a bit taken aback.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: Juliette, Rosalee, and even Monroe all express some degree of sympathy for Adalind losing her daughter.
  • There Is Another: This is the first time anyone in the cast meets a Grimm that's not in Nick's family (or as it would be revealed, Nick's immediate family).
  • Title Drop: The opening quote and title are both from Nobody Knows The Trouble I've Seen, which could be Trubel's theme song.
  • Wham Line: After Trubel attacks Monroe when he Woges, Nick and Hank pull her off him. During their fight, Monroe keeps trying to get their attention. Finally:
    Monroe: She's a Grimm!
