Fake Nationality: Sayaka Ohara voices Leonora Nakiri, a Dane — whose Japanese is comically bad, under normal circumstances. - Food Porn: As usual, Senzaemon Nakiri strips when the food is really good. The Polar Star girls worry that the same thing will happen to Leonora, but her reaction is idiosyncratic even by the standards of Shokugeki:Alice: When Mother eats something delicious, she sheds her broken Japanese, and "bares" a fluent command of the language.
Yuuki: [lampshading] "Shedding" broken Japanese? How's that work?! - Impossibly Delicious Food:
- Ryou's Autumn Pacific Saury Cartoccio — a seafood stew. The saury might have been lost in the mix, if Ryou hadn't been able to pick fish at the peak of their flavor.
- Akira's Seared Pacific Saury Carpaccio — an appetizer seasoned only with allspice, and torched at the table. A simple dish, which depends on — and therefore highlights — the high quality of the fish.
- And finally, Soma's Salted Rice Bran Pacific Saury Rice — fish aged to develop its umami, then grilled and cooked in rice. But Wait, There's More! ... in the next episode.
- I'm Standing Right Here: Ryou wasn't amused at all when Alice and Leonora kept talking about taking him to Japan, in the middle of the restaurant during his shift.
- I'm Taking Her Home with Me!: After discovering Ryou, Alice grabbed him by the collar and requested her mother to let her "keep Ryou as her assistant, since Erina already has an assistant, so will she as well". Leonora saw this as Alice wanting to adopt a stray puppy.
- Ma'am Shock: Leonora mishears Erina's "Oba-sama" as "Obaa-sama", and takes offense.note
- Motor Mouth: Once Leonora eats a delicious dish, her thick accent and broken Japanese fades and she starts to talk fluently about all the best attributes of the dish in a fast pace.
- Scenery Censor: During the first foodgasm, some strategically-placed fish and seaweed come in handy.
- Shout-Out: The judges' reaction to Ryou's dish made them imagine themselves as a swimming team at the ocean.
