Go To

"Nightmare At Urkel Oaks" is an episode in the eighth season of Family Matters.

Myrtle continues to flirt with Eddie despite disapproval from Eddie (and Greta). This time, however, Myrtle's father steps in and offers $10 million in exchange for Eddie marrying Myrtle. On the day of Eddie and Myrtle's wedding, Greta crashes the party, with Myrtle and Greta fighting each other, dragging Eddie into their fight, only for Eddie to wake up and realize that it was a nightmare all along.

Tropes in this episode:

  • All Just a Dream: The scenario of Eddie's wedding with Myrtle turns out to be a nightmare Eddie had, much to his immense relief.
  • Cat Fight: Between Greta and Myrtle, though Eddie gets dragged into it during the sequence.
  • Every Man Has His Price: Even though he firmly believes that Eddie is unworthy of his daughter, Myrtle's father has the funds to match it in order for ensure Eddie will marry Myrtle.
Myrtle's Father: I will give you $10 million.
    Eddie: Daddy! *hugs Myrtle's father*
  • Letting the Air out of the Band: The wedding music "Here Comes The Bride" plays as Myrtle is about to descend from the second-floor balcony to the first floor, but the music goes off-tune and stops quickly as Myrtle missteps and tumbles down the staircase.
  • Music at Sporting Events: The organist plays the "Charge" fanfare from baseball games at one point during Greta and Myrtle's Cat Fight, right as Myrtle is about to charge at Greta as their Cat Fight is still ongoing. Quite a few wedding attendants shout "Charge!" at the end of that musical sequence.
  • Staircase Tumble: Played for Laughs. Myrtle's descent from the balcony on the second floor to the first floor turns into this trope due to her misstep on the way down the stairway, though she's no worse for wear afterwards, with the disruption of the wedding music sequence and her slightly bruised dignity being the only setbacks from the incident.
  • Wedding Smashers: Greta interrupts Eddie and Myrtle's wedding ceremony by barging into the building (riding a motorcycle, no less).
  • You Are Fat: In Eddie’s birthday tape by Myrtle, she insults Greta with this trope, along with Slut-Shaming and calling her ugly. Greta responds by smashing up the video tape.
Myrtle: If that thin-lipped, big-hipped, one-eyed, hair-dyed floozy Greta is there… I got just two words for her: “Jenny Craig.” *snap*
