Zak and Wheezie are getting ready to put on a musical performance at Singing Springs, but they can't agree on what music to use—while Zak wants to sing soft, soothing tones, Wheezie would rather sing loud and wild. When their arguing incurs the wrath of the titular Giant of Nod, who imprisons them and their friends so he can get some peace and quiet, the duo must settle their dispute in time to perform.

"The Giant of Nod" contains examples of:

  • Argument of Contradictions:
Giant: Who woke me up with all that racket?
Wheezie: I didn't. My brother was making the racket.
Zak: Me? You were playing way too loud!
    Wheezie: Was not!
    Zak: Was too!
  • Our Giants Are Bigger: Inverted; the titular giant is only big compared to the Nodlings whom he resembles, and compared to everyone else he's relatively small.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Despite his size, the Giant of Nod is quite strong.
  • Super-Strength: The Giant is strong enough to lift, spin and throw not only Emmy and Max but the three (four?) dragons with them, at the same time. He also effortlessly shoves a boulder in front of the hole of the tree he threw them into.
Max: "Whoa! The Giant of Nod's even stronger than you, Ord!"
  • Vocal Dissonance: Despite hardly coming up to the dragons' knees, the Giant of Nod has a loud, deep voice. Even louder when aided by his megaphone.

The gang is invited to a sleepover party at Zak and Weezie's, but Cassie is afraid of attending because this is her first time staying away from home and faces missing her family. Emmy and Max must find a way to help Cassie deal with her homesickness and still have fun.

"The Big Sleepover" contains examples of:

  • Go-to-Sleep Ending: The final scene shows Max falling asleep on the window bench and Emmy tells him goodnight.
  • Incredibly Lame Fun: Zak is ecstatic when he hears their mother announce it's "Beddy Bye Time". In contrast, Wheezie can see her brother is giving their night ritual way too much credit for being remotely fun.
  • Pajama-Clad Hero: Just like in "Zak's Song", Emmy and Max spend the whole episode in their pajamas. Justified since it's nighttime in both worlds.
  • Slumber Party: What Zak and Weezie were holding for the episode.
  • Take a Third Option: The dilemma of the story is that Cassie is torn between missing out on Zak and Wheezie's sleepover, and staying at the sleepover the entire night at the expense of feeling homesick. Towards the end when Emmy and Max have to go home soon, everyone figures out a resolution: stick around for the sleepover, and return home by bedtime so she can be closer to her family.
