Gohan and Krillin befriend Dende, the young Namekian they saved from Freeza, who tells them about the planet's Grand Elder. Meanwhile, Dodoria ends up waylayed by Vegeta, who learns something quite unpleasant about his current quarry.
We all learn to trope when we are children:
- All Men Are Perverts: Dende expresses an interest in Bulma's breasts. This can be a downplayed example as since he is part of a species that reproduces by eggs from their mouths and has only one gender, he simply wants to nestle in them.
- Brick Joke: Bulma brings up the incident when they first got on Namek immediately when Krillin returns to the cave where she set up camp.Bulma: Well, if it isn't Mr. Super Soaker himself?
- When Dr. Briefs contacted Goku as he launched the ship, he spots the Saiyan holding a large blueberry muffin. Goku claims he used a "muffin button", something that Dr. Briefs explicitly states he never considered installing one last episode.
- But for Me, It Was Tuesday: Vegeta is well aware that Freeza casually blows up planets and wipe species to near extinction.
- Comically Missing the Point: When Dr. Briefs warns Goku not to mess with the ship's gravity controls, as they can go up 100X Earth's gravity. Goku decides that increasing the gravity can make him stronger, and cuts the call short before Briefs can fully explain how devastatingly self-destructive such an idea can be.
- Everybody Knew Already: Dodoria tries to bargain with Vegeta about Freeza being responsible for destroying his home planet, but he already knew because Freeza bragged it on "Space Twitter".
- How Is That Even Possible?: Dr. Briefs' reaction to the "muffin button".
- Running Gag: Blink and you'll miss it, but we get the beginnings of a frequent dialogue model here:Krillin: Hey, Bulma! You clean up in there? We have guests!
(monster roar echoing in the cave)
Dende: I do not think I want to go in there.
Krillin: Awww, don't worry. That's just Bulma.
Dende: I do not know what this "Bulma" is, but it sounds needy.- Krillin starts calling Dende "Little Green", much to the Nemekian's annoyance.
- Riddle for the Ages: If Dr. Briefs never installed a button that makes muffins, how did Goku get one?
- These Are Things Man Was Not Meant to Know: Dodoria reveals that not only is she female, but the people on her home planet regarded her as "the most beautiful and fertile" of her species before Freeza wiped them all out. Vegeta decides to repress the truth... by killing her.
- Unsettling Gender-Reveal: Vegeta learns something he'd rather not while making Dodoria crying like a woman.
- We Can Rule Together: Dodoria tries to save herself by saying she and Vegeta could topple Freeza together and rule as husband and wife. This does her no favors.
