This event contains examples of:
- Boss Rush: The Exhibition Match EX lets you bring a full team to fight five waves of adventurers as enemies.
- Wave 1: Ieyasu, Sazanka, Botan, Addis
- Wave 2: Mitsuhide, Chitose, Hanabusa
- Wave 3: Daikokuten, Nobunaga
- Wave 4: Yoshitsune
- Wave 5: Seimei and Kuzunoha
- The Bus Came Back: This event is Ieyasu's return visit since his own New Year events.
- Duel Boss: The four tournament matches force you to fight against a different opponent solo. In order: Ieyasu, Daikokuten, Nobunaga, Seimei.
- Immediate Sequel: This event takes place right after "Cursed Connections."
- New Year Has Come: It was sidetracked from the "Cursed Connections" event so it was redirected to a tournament.
- Out-of-Character Moment: Soon as Seimei starts talking like a certain fox after Nameless is about to use a harsh spell on Elisanne has him jump into the ring... and reveal they're Kuzunoha while Nameless is Seimei.
- Out of Focus: Euden and Gozu Tenno take a backseat to the other adventurers and Hinomoto companions in this arc. Justified, as they assist in the ceremonies and with security, which is removed from the tournament itself.
- Scissors Cuts Rock: Kimono Luca winning against Seimei in the tournament is this since Luca is wind and Seimei is fire.
- Tournament Arc: Since it would take too long for the Hinomoto representatives to travel the world to spread new year cheer, they decided on a tournament. With that, the Hinomoto Fortune Fighters Tournament is on.
- Your Heart's Desire: The big prize besides money is Yura's reflecting mirror, one that shows someone's biggest desire.
