A curse on the Halidom? This year is off to a pretty rough start.

New year has come once again for the Halidom, and the party prepares for yet another visit from one of Hinomoto's wyrmclan leaders. What they don't expect is an imposter named Doman arriving and placing a curse on the Halidom. Upon which, the party has to partner up with Seimei to put a stop to Doman's plans.

This event contains examples of:

• All Your Base Are Belong to Us: The Halidom gets infiltrated by Doman and the Mukuroshu.
• Boss-Arena Idiocy: The sealing stones that drop in the fight with Shikigami Gozu Tenno are begging to be used as shields against its charges, which is all well and good since his target cannot otherwise escape the attack.^* You could try shapeshifting to have your dragon tank the blow instead, but since that enters cooldown after you revert and you can only do this twice before recharging, not to mention your other party members are going to get mowed over anyway, it's easier for your sanity to just use the rocks.
• Darker and Edgier: The last two years of New Year events were lighthearted romps but now things have gotten super serious to the point that it threaten all of South Grastaea.
• Death Seeker: Yoshitsune allowed the plot to happen because she wants to die and be free of her immortality. Unfortunately for her, Tsukuyomi didn't show during this particular crisis.
• Later-Installment Weirdness: Prior Expert raids occasionally dropped Otherworld Gems to fight a powerful (9500 Might) boss for loads of Peregrine Blazons and Gold Emblems. This one is only 1500 Might, the Slimes that are summoned go down quickly, and Kuzunoha might as well be a One-Hit-Point Wonder, but the fried tofu required for the fight are only yielded by Endeavors and the Grand Bounty; thankfully, one of them is the daily award attained after befriending Kuzunoha.
• Made of Iron: As if he wasn't already sturdy enough, the rocks summoned at the start of the fight enhance Shikigami Gozu Tenno's defenses, so you're going to need a lot of damage at your command to power on through. Don't bother with dispel effects; the rocks provide a constant buff until destroyed.
• New Year Has Come: It is another new years celebration but this time it gets sidelined by the attack from the Mukuroshu.
• Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Ieyasu and Mitsuhide neglected to inform the Halidom about Hinomoto affairs and the nature of their coming guests, which allowed them to be deceived by Doman, let him in and corrupt the Halidom's mana. Only Seimei's timely intervention keeps things from going more pear-shaped than they already were.
• Taking You with Me: Seimei had intended to only have himself and Doman killing each other so neither one will inherit the curse of Kodoku. In the end, they resolve to survive the conflict and end up fragging Doman.
• There Can Be Only One: Doman used the Kodoku curse to gain the power to make the Underworld Key, which would essentially begin fusing the realms together in a massive catastrophe, and killed the other accursed onmyoji to accumulate the necessary power. In the end, he dies at Seimei's hands, his ambitions thwarted.
• This Cannot Be!:
  • Doman may utter this if Shikigami Gozu Tenno is bested in combat.
    Doman: No... my doctrine was bested?!
  • Doman has this reaction to his Shikigami Gozu Tenno being defeated during the finale.
    Doman: No... No! My grand shikigami was wrought from the amalgamation of Yomi chi and one of the Great Twelve, and yet you STILL managed to destroy it?!
