Craig and his friends venture into an ancient cavern in their quest for the Heart of the Forest but find something far more sinister.

Tropes:

  • As You Know: As they’re waiting for Maya, Omar explains to Craig why it’ll be awkward for him to see her again even though Craig already knows their history.
Omar: You know, because we were friends, but then we were enemies because Maya was working for King Xavier and I was the Green Poncho.
Craig: Uh yeah, I know. I know how the story goes.
  • "Awkward Silence" Entrance: When Maya enters the Candy Bar, the whole room goes silent and everyone turns to stare at her.
  • Bigfoot, Sasquatch, and Yeti: Discussed. As the group hears rustling in the cave, JP seems to think it was some kind of Sasquatch that made the noise.
    JP: Bigfoot? Medium-foot? Small-foot, but it’s proportional so you’re cool with it…foot?
  • Cliffhanger: An unknown kid in a red poncho takes the latest puzzle cube before the Stump kids can claim it. Craig realizes that they have competition for the Heart of the Forest.
  • Did Not Think This Through: Craig builds a large lighting rig to light up the planetarium. Then Omar has to remind him that it's too big to take out of the Stump, so they have to disassemble it and reassemble it outside.
  • Double-Meaning Title: The group is left in the dark of the cave when the Red Poncho destroys Craig’s invention. Omar is also left in the dark about the status of his friendship with Maya as she leaves his texts unread.
  • Exposition Cut: When Maya asks what he’s been up to lately, the scene cuts as Omar fills her in on their search for the Heart of the Forest.
  • Flashback: The episode begins with Omar having a flashback to the evolution of his and Maya’s friendship.
  • Flipping the Table: Maya flips the table to use as a shield when Wolfgang attacks Omar.
  • Food Fight: Maya and Wolfgang fight using the various sweets in the Candy Bar.
  • Frothy Mugs of Water: At the Candy Bar, Shawn delivers Craig, Omar, and Maya three frothy mugs of chocolate milk with choco rolls on top.
  • Graceful Landing, Clumsy Landing: While the rest of the group is able to slide down into the cave and land on their feet, JP tumbles head over heels and lands on his face at the bottom.
  • Gum In Hair: Omar gets a bunch of caramel stuck on his hands and haphazardly throws it off of him. Unfortunately, it hits Wolfgang in the back of the head, who already has a bald spot from being hit with one of the Green Poncho’s bubblegum arrows. He rips it out, creating another bald spot, and attacks Omar in a fit of rage.
  • Hard-Work Montage: A montage plays of Craig, Kelsey, and JP gathering supplies and building Craig’s invention to light up the cave.
  • The Nose Knows: JP is able to help the rest of the group find the cave King Kenneth used to play in because his nose is “finely attuned to dank, dark spaces” and they follow his lead once he’s on the scent.
  • Rapid-Fire Interrupting: Shawn keeps interrupting Omar and Maya’s already awkward conversation by asking them questions about what they’re ordering from the Candy Bar until Craig finally stops him.
Craig: Hey, hey, hey! They’re trying to have a moment here!
  • Trick Arrow: In this episode, Omar uses arrows with Christmas lights, disposable cameras, and a boxing glove on them.
  • We Will Meet Again: Wolfgang vows his revenge on Omar, Maya, and Craig as he gets carried out of the bar by Shawn.
Wolfgang: This isn’t the end of this! I’ll make you all sorry for cursing Wolfgang!
  • What Are Records?: Omar calls the disposable cameras he uses for his flash arrows “phone-less cameras”.
