A young boy named Bobby wants to become a Kids Next Door recruit, but the challenges in becoming one may be harder than he thought.

Date of Mission: June 12, 2006

Now loading tropes:

  • Ascended Fanboy: The premise of the episode is that Bobby is a regular kid who wants to join the KND. He gets his wish, but Sector V puts him through hell and high water to complete their mission. At the end of the episode, it's revealed Bobby is not a KND superfan, but the Interesting Twins disguised as a kid.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Bobby is horrified that his parents are... doing the dishes?
  • Cast as a Mask: Scott Menville voices Bobby, while the Interesting Twins themselves are once again voiced by Tara Strong and Tom Kenny.
  • Continuity Nod: The costume that Bobby wears to infiltrate the Crazy Old Cat Lady's house is the same "Mr. Huggykins" costume that Numbuh 4 was forced to wear in "Operation: C.A.T.S."
  • Foreshadowing: The mother of the KND recruit yells "I told you to keep it down up there, kids". An odd statement given that there is only one kid up there, hinting that the recruit is really The Interesting Twins.
  • Funny Background Event: After Bobby chooses the blue lollipop, Numbuh 3 can be seen licking the red lollipop she was holding.
  • Humiliation Conga: The Interesting Twins go through a lot in this episode, from getting blasted with a tank to getting mauled by cats to getting stuck in a giant dishwasher.
  • The Infiltration: "Bobby" is really The Interesting Twins from Beneath the Mountain, hoping to infiltrate the KND from within. But because of their Humiliation Conga, they give up the ruse. Apparently, Sector V knew all along it was them... well, almost all of Sector V.
  • Out-Gambitted: The Interesting Twins posed as a new recruit hoping to destroy the KND from within, only for Sector V to put them through one hell of a Humiliation Conga, having been able to see through their disguise easily.
  • Real After All: Turns out Numbuh 1's false conspiracy theory about dishwashers might actually have some truth to it, as his comment at the end of the episode implies.
  • Red Pill, Blue Pill: As part of the induction process, Bobby must choose between a red lollipop or a blue lollipop. It's actually inverted from The Matrix, as the red lollipop makes him forget what happened and return to a normal life, while the blue lollipop causes him to see what the KND see. After a slight hesitation, he chooses the blue lollipop.
  • Tank Goodness: Wink and Fibb attack Bobby with a couch-tank thing.
  • Villainous Breakdown: The repeated abuse from the supposed assignments prompt the Interesting Twins to reveal themselves, bemoan how crazy the KND is, and leave in a huff.
  • Villains Out Shopping: Bobby infiltrates two villain houses to get the things he needs for the Kids Next Door. We see Mr. Wink and Mr. Fibb watching television together and the Crazy Old Cat Lady sleeping.
  • We Will Meet Again: The Interesting Twins promise this before jumping out the window.
