Recap / Code Prime - R2: Revolution, 38 "One Shall Rise"

Go To

The war has finally come to an end, and the Grand Alliance have begun working to rebuild the world, starting from where it all started for them; Japan. Six months later, everyone comes together for the wedding of Kaname Ohgi and Chigusa Nu. However, though the war against tyranny may be over, the struggle with the darkness will continue as a rising and ancient evil is planning to make its first move against them...

  • Artistic License – Paleontology: Likely intentional, given that the Dinobots have minimal familiarity with Earth's fossil record, but when Swoop offers Sky-Byte a place in the Dinobots, he cites that Earth had giant prehistoric sharks swimming around at the time of the dinosaurs, explicitly bringing up Megalodon. Despite what Meg shows, Megalodon didn't appear until long after all non-avian dinosaurs died out.
  • Back for the Finale: The old gypsy ladies are finally located so they can be guests of Ohgi and Chigusa's wedding.
  • Eviler than Thou: At the very end, Unicron tells Beleth that for all his villainy and ambitions, the Skull is nothing but a progeny whose goals and power were small compared to the Chaos Bringer's. Unicron then absorbs him, Victor and Megatron for his own greater yet mysterious plans.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Thundercracker and Sky-Byte are officially confirmed to have joined the Autobots.
  • Interrupted Intimacy: Defied. Just as Lelouch and Kallen are about to kiss, Bumblebee and Arcee arrive to make sure the pair don't get too... venereal. And just as Kallen is about to tell them off, Lelouch pulls her back into the kiss and states he doesn't care if they watch.
  • Last Episode, New Character:
    • King Shailo, High Priestess Shamna and Warrior General Bolvona Forgnar, all from the kingdom of Zilkhistan, all show up at the closing of this season.
    • Played very darkly with the official appearance of Unicron the Chaos Bringer, the true main antagonist of the entire series at the end of the chapter.
  • Official Couple: Besides Ohgi and Chigusa finally marrying, Cornelia and Guilford, Tohdoh and Chiba, Orpheus and Monica, and Oldrin and Marrybell have all officially become couples, with the first couple engaged.
  • Mythology Gag: Optimus's closing transmitted speech to all Cybertronians is similar to the one given at the end of Transformers (2007) with some elements from the closing speech from the "Darkness Rising" five-parter from Transformers: Prime.
  • Season Finale: This chapter serves as the final chapter of R2.
  • Sequel Hook: The end shows the royals of Zilkhstan, who also have a recovering Steeljaw in their custody, meeting Predaking and asking him to join them for some unknown plan of their own. Meanwhile, Beleth is confronted by Unicron the Chaos Bringer, who absorbs him and the deceased Megatron and Victor (V.V.) as part of his imminent awakening and an unknown plan that he is scheming.
Unicron: And so... I shall begin... again.
  • Series Fauxnale: Between most of the main villains since the start of the story being confirmed dead, Ohgi and Chigusa's wedding, many other couples becoming more serious, and Optimus's speech at the end of the chapter, this chapter could very well have been the end of the story as a whole. But with the foreshadowing of Zilkhstan and Unicron, it's obvious there is more to come.
  • Suddenly Voiced: After being nothing more than mindless beast and enforcer of the Decepticons, the Predacon speaks for the first time to the Zilkhstan royals and revealing his name: Predaking.
  • Villain Team-Up: King Shailo and his team have a battered Steeljaw with them and then the king starts a talk with an approaching Predaking about joining forces to further their plans.
  • Wedding Finale: The last chapter focuses on the Autobots, the Black Knights, and many others gathering to witness Villetta/Chigusa and Kaname Ohgi's wedding, six months after the end of the war against the Decepticons.
