Go To

English Episode Title: Disaster — French Episode Title: Hécatombe

Aelita and Yumi abort a mission to get to the Cortex to talk to Aelita's mother, and instead have to fight off a specter picking the gang off for their codes.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Butt-Monkey: Odd getting ignored for not having any code left.
  • Continuity Nod: Odd loses all his code, as per Spartan, which the others reference.
  • Contrived Coincidence: Odd is listening to music in his headphones, while Ulrich is meditating, both of whom miss Jérémie's phone call for a XANA attack, and subsequently get drained of their codes.
  • Family of Choice: Aelita mentions that the Lyoko Warriors are her family in her end speech.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Yumi is offended by Jérémie calling her and Aelita "girls" (used in the sense of referring to them as a group, not in the derogatory sense), and he responds by saying that they call him Einstein. The comms disconnect, and Yumi says "Guys..." in retaliation (which was used in the derogatory sense).
  • My Way or the Highway: Yumi disagrees with Jérémie's plan to stay on Lyoko when Ulrich is in danger, with Aelita calming her down and she eventually agrees. Similarly, William is annoyed that he's the only one to destroy the monsters swarming the tower on Lyoko, and takes it into his owns hands to get devirtualised to help Yumi. Jérémie lampshades all of their stubbornness this episode.
  • Near-Villain Victory: Ulrich and Odd lose all their codes, while Yumi only has a few codes left, bringing the XANA power level to 95%, the agreed-upon condition to which the Lyoko Warriors start fighting back and kill the new supercomputer (which means Aelita cannot contact her mother anymore).
  • Oh, No... Not Again!: After Odd loses his codes.
Jérémie: A specter took all of Odd's codes.
    Aelita: What? Again?
  • Super-Persistent Predator: XANA!Guiluam does not stop at getting codes, succeeds in draining Ulrich and Odd of their codes, and phases through walls to get at Ulrich. Even poor Yumi is trying to leave her hiding sport, but the specter won't leave her alone.
  • The Needs of the Many: Aelita's speech at the end points out that her quest to find her mother is not more important than saving the world from XANA, and she's willing to give up her quest if it means the world is safe once more.
  • Terse Talker: William does this towards Jérémie, and the latter calls him out on it, to which he goes back to normal.
