Recap / Bluey Bad Mood

Go To

Bingo is about to eat a cookie, but when Chilli sees her, she points out that she didn't get permission and says she's "being cheeky". However, this hurts Bingo's feelings and she goes into the bedroom to mope. Then, she takes out a Viking hat and decides to play with it with Bandit in a game called "Bad Mood".

Bandit comes along wearing the Viking hat with Bingo walking on his feet, and together, they knock over Bluey's block tower and throw away her teddy bear. Bingo claims she can't help it because she's in a "bad mood", despite giggling up a storm. Then, Bandit and Bingo go outside and make a mess out of Chilli's laundry.

When Bluey says that Bingo is in a bad mood, Chilli decides to cheer her up. Bluey goes into the living room where Bandit and Bingo are watching sports, and tries to stop them, but they don't listen. Bandit and Bingo then go into the kitchen and try to steal a chocolate bar, but Bluey swipes it.

Then, she decides to think of what gets her out of a bad mood. She goes into Bandit's study and has Bingo sit in a chair and take belly breaths, but it doesn't work. Bandit takes Bingo into the living room, where Bluey tries to cheer Bingo up by having her draw. However, Bandit and Bingo vandalise the drawing, throw it away, then go into the bathroom and unravel the toilet roll.

Bluey plays music, and Bingo wants to dance, but Bandit holds her back. Bluey turns up the volume, causing Bandit to hold his head, and the girls make a break for it. However, Bingo then gets back onto Bandit's feet. She tells Chilli, who claims that Bingo "likes being in a bad mood". Then, they come up with a plan.

Bluey gets Bandit and Bingo to chase her in a toy car, then Bandit gets tired and lies down. Bluey pries Bingo away, then Chilli has her walk on her feet, playing a game called "Good Mood", which basically means hugging everything in sight. Then, noticing that Bandit is unhappy, Bingo hugs him and his Viking hat falls off.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Anthropomorphic Personification: Played for Laughs. Bandit takes on the role of Bingo's bad mood, stomping around, snarling, and making a mess. Chilli later takes on the role of a "good mood" for Bingo to get into, lovingly hugging everything.
  • Blatant Lies: While playing the "Bad Mood" game, Bingo claims she's in a bad mood, despite laughing.
  • Hard Truth Aesop: As complicated as it sounds, sometimes people like being in a bad mood.
  • Intentional Mess Making: The "Bad Mood" game involves throwing things around and knocking things over.
  • Kick the Dog: Played for Laughs. Bingo's "Bad Mood" allows her to be as mean and destructive as she feels, even to a degree where (to Bluey's confusion) she enjoys being in a bad mood.
  • Nose Nuggets: Invoked when Bandit makes Bingo pick her nose.
  • Pet the Dog: As opposed to the "Bad Mood", Bingo's "Good Mood" invokes the best in her, prompting her to cuddle and show kindness to all things. Seeing her Bad Mood (actually Bandit) is unhappy, Bingo decides that even he deserves a cup of kindness to be extended to him.
  • Tantrum Throwing: Parodied in the "Bad Mood" game, which involves throwing things and saying you're in a bad mood.
