Dorien and Tracey are out, Dorien having been given a dinner from Barry Quid as he plans for the opening of the new flagship store, much to Sharon's annoyance, who hadn't been told this. Just then, she receives a text message. It's her old husband Chris, and he wants to see her.

Chris shows up and reveals what he's been up to since his last appearance - he's become a carpenter. He also wants a divorce as he's found a woman named Angie. Jealous, Sharon makes up a former boyfriend named Gary who died rescuing some children on his lifeguard duty. During this, Angie shows up. She's actually blind and she has a guide dog with her.

Everyone talks and Angie invites them out. Sharon is still jealous however and decides to tell Angie of Chris' past. At the party, Dorien finds another man - the also blind Jack, who thinks she's 39. However, when Jack wants her to head out on an adventure break, Dorien admits the truth.

Sharon gives Chris the divorce papers and asks why Chris is treating Angie much better, who notes that it's because she was a better girlfriend than her. The girls also find from Dorien that Chris has inherited a villa in Cyprus, with Tracey realizing that their rushing the divorce because Chris doesn't want Sharon to have any hand in it. They leave, planting the seed for a breakup in the future between Angie and Chris in the process.

This Episode contains the following tropes:

  • Accidental Misnaming: Chris once again calls Dorien "Doreen" when he returns.
  • Affair Letters: Sharon catches Chris on his phone and realizes that based on his text messages, he's cheating on Angie.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Apollonia is called "Appy" to Angie.
  • Blind People Wear Sunglasses: The blind Jack wears sunglasses for most of the time that he is talking to Dorien, although he takes them off near the end.
  • Continuity Nod: Once again, the fact that Chris is infertile is mentioned.
  • Creepy Crossdresser: Sharon manages to traumatize Appy by claiming that on Friday nights, Chris wears a bra and fishnets and calls himself Yasmin.
  • Disability Superpower: Dorien apparently believes that a person who is blind has heightened sensual awareness (although Tracey considers it rubbish).
  • Food Slap: Tracey splashes a glass of drink in Chris' face after it is revealed that he is rushing the divorce to remove Sharon out of a villa he has inherited. It misses, however, leading to Dorien getting her own splashing in and making contact.
  • The Ghost:
    • Michelle McCarthy, who Sharon swaps shifts with because she wanted to go to her grandaughter's christening.
    • Wendy, the apparent new wife of Marcus.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: When Sharon discovers that Chris intends to marry Angie, she gets extremely jealous, even though she denies it and intends to tell Angie about Chris' true colors merely to make herself better.
  • Invented Individual: When Chris asks whether Sharon has gone out with anybody since they broke up, Sharon makes up a man she was with named Gary, a paramedic and captain of the lifeboat team down Southend who died rescuing kiddies and puppies.
  • Malaproper: Chris calls himself the "pillow" rather than the pillar of the community.
Sharon: You've smartened yourself up a bit.
Chris: "Pillow" of the community now, ain't I?
Sharon: It's not "pillow", it's "pillar".
    Chris: What, like the rice?
  • Mistaken Age: Jack falsely believes Dorien to be about 38 or 39, even though she's at least in her 60s by now. Dorien initially runs with it, until he asks her to do some extreme sports with her at Chris' villa.
  • Offscreen Crash: Appy smashes something made of glass on Chris as the girls leave the party, although it occurs entirely off-screen.
  • The Oldest Profession: According to Sharon, Chris used to meet other women in alleyways with £20 in hand.
  • One-Shot Character: Angie and Jack.
  • Series Continuity Error: Chris' mother is depicted as still alive, even though she had been previously established as having died way back in "Dead Loss".
  • Ship Sinking:
    • The last time Chris had shown up, he had started a relationship with a Sharon look-alike called Josie. No mention of her is made in this episode, with Chris having found a new love called Angie in his life.
    • Marcus is now mentioned to have married a woman named Wendy, apparently having separated from his previous love Geraldine.
  • Teenage Pregnancy: Implied with Michelle McCarthy, who has become a grandmother by the mere age of 29.
  • Titled After the Song: The episode is titled after The Rolling Stones song "Blinded By Love".
  • Writer's Block: Dorien claims to be having this when asked why she's lingering around as Sharon is waiting for Chris. Well, that, and she's nosy. That said, it's eventually undone after Dorien observes Chris and Angie and decides to base her book on Angie.
Sharon: And why are you both still hanging about?
Dorien: I'm struggling with my new book. Writer's block. I need distraction. And I'm nosy.
