Ben and Gwen visit Planetary Studios, where they encounter Tim Dean, creator of a corny cartoon series based on Ben's heroic alien alter egos. Also, Ben finally has the opportunity to meet Abel North, the actor who played Ben's childhood hero Kangaroo Kommando.
This episode contains examples of the following tropes:
- Adaptation Displacement: In-Universe, Ben's alien forms are overshadowed by their depictions in Super Alien Hero Buddies.
- Alliterative Name: Kangaroo Kommando.
- All Part of the Show: Ben crashes Abel North's stunt show thinking the actor is in real danger. The audience just assumes Heatblast is part of the act. When Ben realizes his mistake, he's more than happy to play along.
- Animal Themed Super Being: Kangaroo Kommando, again.
- Bland-Name Product: Planetary Studios is essentially Universal Studios.
- Cain and Abel: Abel North and his Evil Twin Kane.
- Doing It for the Art: In-Universe, Abel North does all the stunts and special effects for his tv show, in addition acting the part of a hero even off-camera. Contrast with Dean, who is rather non-pulsed when signing autographs, ripped off the idea from another artist and generally acts like a jerk.
- Evil Twin: Abel's brother Kane.
- Expy: In-Universe the Super Alien Hero Buddies are very blatantly ripped off from Ben's alien heroes. He's never successfully called on it.
- Opening Shout-Out: The art style of Super Alien Hero Buddies references the stylized depictions of the aliens from the opening.
- Plagiarism in Fiction: In addition to the Super Alien Hero Buddies being ripped from Ben’s aliens, Dean also ripped off the idea from Kane.Ben: Can’t anyone come up with anything original in Hollywood?
- A Sinister Clue: Inverted. Just as Dean is about to be arrested for supposedly blowing up the Kangaroo Commando rollercoaster, Gwen is able to prove his innocence by pointing out the glove found at the scene of the crime is right-handed, whilst Dean is left-handed.
- Speech-Impaired Animal: Doggy Buddy.
- Stylistic Suck: the "Super Alien Hero Buddies" Show Within a Show.
- You Just Ruined the Shot: Ben puts out a fire only to realize it was just a special effect from Kangaroo Kommando's stunt show.
