While the team are reminscing about their past adventures (and rivalries), Kevin seemingly steals Max's RV, and Ben and Gwen go after him.- Anti-Climactic Unmasking: A variation. Vulkanus looks intimidating at a glance, but Ben reveals that his body is actually a robotic suit and he actually has the body of a baby.
- Body Horror: Vulkanus makes Kevin absorb Taydenite, which makes him grow uncontrollably and create crystal spikes on his back.
- Crazy-Prepared: Kevin hid a tracking device on the Rustbucket II in case Argit double crossed him.
- Early-Installment Weirdness: Big Chill is shown having invisibility powers in his debut apperance here, stacking up with his intangibility. Later episodes indicate that Big Chill going intangible does not make him invisible.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: When Argit shoots his quills at Echo Echo, he redirects them back at him via his "Wall of Sound", paralyzing Argit.
- Noodle Incident:
- At some point after the original series, Max’s old Rustbucket got traded in for a near-identical version. No further details are given.
- In the past, Kevin and Vulkanus worked together on a scam that ended with the latter being ratted out to the Plumbers, who blew up his ship.
- Not So Stoic: Though Gwen is generally shown to be more emotionally mature than her cousin is, she's noticeably enamored by how Kevin managed to escape with the Rustbucket, much to Ben's frustration.
- Poor Communication Kills: Kevin doesn’t think to tell Ben or Gwen about why he stole their grandfather’s home beforehand, resulting in Ben spending the episode mad at Kevin apparently having played them from the start.
- Ship Tease: Gwen and Kevin get some notable amounts of this here. Not only does she have the latter’s handkerchief on hand, but she helps Kevin return to normal by touching him.
- Spike Shooter: Argit is able to fire the quills off his body like projectiles, which also have a sedating effect.
