Summary

The Second Coming tries to find a way to escape the cave in which he fell, but he finds himself without items. Trying to climb the walls, he ends up making just a little too much noise, which grabs the attention of a warden. The monster starts chasing TSC, but the stick figure quickly realizes that the warden is blind, and diverts his attention to sneak out in a ruin and open a chest, hoping to find some useful tools. He finds a book, a candle, a stick and a golden apple. He throws the apple as a distraction and then crawls in a small tunnel, but the warden starts breaking blocks to reach him. However, TSC manages to create a flute using the candle and the stick, and plays music found in the book, which gives the warden a flashback to the Warden and the old village he used to live in. The warden becomes friends with TSC, who explains to the warden about King, causing the two to go fight him. King is quickly overpowered by the warden and TSC, despite trying to use a gold block to power his staff. Eventually, he ends up finding the Master Block, getting the upper hand again.

Tropes

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: The warden does not have an established backstory in Vanilla Minecraft that we know of. Here, it used to be the guardian of an underground village, and got along with the villagers there.
  • Adaptational Heroism: In Minecraft, the warden is a hostile mob that will kill any player it hears or detects. This warden however, helps out The Second Coming in the fight against King from destroying Minecraft. Its backstory implies that it once served as protectors to the villagers of the ancient cavern civilization similar to how the iron golems protects villagers on the surface.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The book. It contains musical sheets belonging to a now extinct village, which causes the warden to remember its past as the village's guardian and befriends The Second Coming.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: When The Second Coming brings the Warden to finish off King, whose staff is empty, it quickly becomes clear that King is horribly outmatched, since he's being attacked by the strongest mob in Minecraft.
  • Darkest Hour: The Second Coming is stuck in a cave all by himself, with absolutely no materials to help him escape with him due to him losing his Master Block. Not to mention that there's a single beast in there who can kill him in one hit.
  • Hope Spot:
    • The Second Coming seemingly escapes the warden when he crawls into a one block tall tunnel. Then the Warden starts widening the tunnel by breaking the blocks above it.
    • With the warden at his side, The Second Coming seems to have an easy path to victory against King, especially since King's staff is empty. Then King manages to find one of the Master Blocks.
  • Improvised Weapon: It's revealed that any valuable block will give the staff some power, as King demonstrates with a gold block. It's nowhere near what he could do with the Master Block or even his Command Block, but it's better than he fared with the empty staff.
  • Mundane Utility: Second Coming uses a golden apple to briefly distract the Warden. Then he tries mining the floor with a book, alterting the Warden.
  • With This Herring: All The Second Coming manages to find in a chest is an enchanted golden apple, a book, a stick, and a candle, all while being attacked by the Warden. The apple provides a last ditch distraction, the book contains music sheets, and The Second Coming creates a makeshift slide flute using the candle and stick. Playing the song in the book causes the warden to remember the people it used to protect, leading to the warden becoming friends with The Second Coming.

The Warden

The Second Coming is at the mercy of a terrifying monster called the warden and is trapped at a dead end with nothing but a book, a candle, and a stick. Having no choice but to utilize whatever he could use at his disposal, The Second Coming finds that the warden is not really a monster. But a friend.
