Scenes from a Room is an Albedo's side-story originally published in a stand-alone format in 1992 and later reprinted in Albedo in the very last issue published in March 2004. Technically an Origins Episode told from the point of view of Eda Felna, Erma's mother about her daughter and her brother Tasak's respective childhoods. It also describes about the life of the Felna family before Erma joined the EDF and how Eda's husband Kanoc was traumatized by the ILR during the First Lepine War and the effects of Kanoc's trauma on his family.
This side-story provides examples of the following:
- Big Sister Bully: Erma was really mean with Tasak when both were kids, taking into account she was the favorite of the family since childhood.
- Break the Cutie: Both Erma and Tasak as kids were severly traumatized by seeing their father being a shadow of his former self. Their mother Eda could be included on this as well.
- Break the Haughty: This story is the main reason why Erma went from being a Spoiled Brat as a kid to a Living Legend in her adult years.
- Darker and Edgier: Compared with other side-stories, this one is really depressing since it shows how Kanoc's trauma affected his family, giving their sons a reason to avenge him years later.
- Downer Ending: As being traumatized and tortured to insanity wasn't enough for Kanoc, the consecuences of his personal trauma on his family are incredibly heart-breaking for Eda, as she cannot do anything for him other than seeing him in a garden while he's watching the flowers bloom at the night alone and ignoring Eda because of the psychological damage he endured.
- Foregone Conclusion: Anyone who has read the comic to this point will know that Kanoc ended up with brain damage and severely traumatized by the ILR as a result of the torture he received, giving Erma a reason to join the EDF.
- The Unfavorite: Even as a kid, poor Tasak can't get a break from his sister.
- Silk Hiding Steel: Eda tries her best to be this in the face of all calamities that befall her family when Kanoc is unable to fulfill his role as the head of the Felna family. Taking into account Dornthant is basically space Japan with some British elements and the fact many aspects of their culture are heavily inspired in Japanese culture, including sleeping in futons and sitting in seiza position, this is understandable.
- You Mean "Xmas": Even a very dystopian setting like Albedo has an equivalent for Christmas, at least as explained in this side-story or at least in Dornthant. The equivalent there is named "Day of Planetfall" and just like its human counterpart, gifts are given as well.
