The third and final of the three campaigns in Age of Empires III's Expansion Pack The Asian Dynasties, India follows the story of Nanib Sahir, a lieutenant working for the British East India Company, who's ruling India with an iron fist by way of Colonel Edwardson, Nanib's superior.

Five levels comprise this campaign: "Into the Punjab", "Fires of Calcutta", "Resist!", "Raid in Delhi" and "Company Confrontation".

This campaign shows examples ofnote :

  • Anyone Can Die: Colonel Edwardson finally bites the dust at the end of the campaign, though one can assume that the Leaders of the Resistance also die, because historically, that war of independence failed.
  • Baseless Mission:
    • "Fires of Calcutta" begins with Edwardson, Nanib and a small regiment making their way onto Calcutta.
    • "Raid in Delhi" requires you to use Elephants to open paths in Delhi as you avoid the Company's numerous patrols and rescue Bahadur Shah. The only way to build some semblance of an army is to free Company prisoners and find insurgents on the streets.
  • Book Ends: The campaign begins and ends near Company territory with a side mission involving Saltpeter sites and another involving the zone's Trade Route.
  • Edutainment Game: The campaign takes place during the Sepoy Rebellion of 1857.
  • Escort Mission: "Raid in Delhi" requires you to free Bahadur Shah and guide him to safety. Unlike other missions, Bahadur Shah isn't subjected to Gameplay Ally Immortality, so if he's killed, it's a Non-Standard Game Over. And in order to prevent players from hiding the Shah in a secure location until the map is cleared enough, there are some checkpoints where the Shah must be guided to that add new soldiers to the party.
  • Heel Realization: It doesn't take much for Nanib to turn on Edwardson: the moment he's used as a puppet to blow up insurgents is where the seeds are planted. Being forced to use Enfield rifles, which use pork fat, is what prompts the Sepoy rebellion.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: Colonel Edwardson, ever the racist and despicable loyalist, finally eats the dust at the very end of "Company Confrontation".
  • Permadeath: If Bahadur Shah falls in "Raid in Delhi", it's a Non-Standard Game Over.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: The depots in "Raid in Delhi" explode when destroyed, the explosions triggering Elephant stampedes that open new paths throughout the city.
